Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 03, 2026 (Jan 12 - Jan 18)

Beaten to it, but it's not Nintendo's fault that other devs have failed to cater to Japanese audiences as well as they have.

They dominate because they make the games that Japanese people want to play, while say Sony caters almost exclusively to the West and most big publishers haven't fully supported the market leader in generations.

Oh dear 4.1m with Tomodachi and Fire Emblem on the way, what's the highest 12 month total in Japan?

Ghost of Yotei single-handedly keeping PlayStation alive in the Top 30 Software charts.

Not that those are good numbers, but Ghost of Yotei being the game selling the most on PS5 makes me happy at least.

Switch 1 selling surprisingly well…hmm. I wonder what's up with that? I wouldn’t suspect Animal Crossing to be the reason, but hard to say. Switch 2 also starting off quite strong! Nearly 70k/wk is a powerful baseline (isn’t that like double what Switch 1 debuted in 2018?).

Crazy that we are now in year two of NS2. I remember when the mere existence of this system wasn’t even confirmed. Dang!

Most likely is indeed the reason.

+16%  9k copies sold

Nintendo Switch Lite once again top selling form with 12k units sold, weekly and yoy up.

Of course, it's a bit bizarre.

Such late adopters of Animal Crossing Horizon.

Hardware sales numbers look very good this week, but on the software side a title only needs to sell 1089 to be in the top 30. That seems kind of low.

Take console out of the equation and just look at the games.  And more to my point just look at games on the Switch.  There are no publishers really doing anything over there besides Nintendo.  Thats a problem.  You legit don't understand what I am saying.  Is it Sony's fault that only Nintendo games are selling on Nintendo conosles in Japan?  I'm implying that the market is completely stagnated over there.  Can't even get FC or anyone else to do any real numbers over there.

Mostly Japanese publishers and Sony make games for western markets, you think Capcom make Resident Evil games for Japanese gamers? Nintendo makes games for both Japanese and western tastes.

Some third party games sell well on Switch in Japan, just look at that Momotaro game from Konami, it outsold Ghost of Yotei in Japan. So it isn't a Nintendo issue you have a problem with, but Japanese taste in gaming in general.

There is no need to cry about Sony losing against Nintendo in some markets, Nintendo is losing against Sony in other markets, different markets have different market leaders and different popular games, its just the way the gaming market works.

I will ask you again to stop warping what I am trying to say to fit you narrative.  I would rather you respond to what I am actually saying.

Welp, 2nd calendar year but we're technically still in it's first year. In it's 7th month only ....

Oh God already 💀

Switch Friend Code : 3905-6122-2909

Switch 1 is nearly 3:1 over PS5 this week, on the verge of it's 9th birthday vs PS5 being 5 years old.

Xbox seems to have run out of American soldiers and ex-pats to sell to; that said, it was able to significantly outsell the Xbone at least, low bar though that may be.
