If it is why would you ask the question  'is nintendo the winner of the 8th gen or the 9th gen?

Because i want to know whats the consensus of which systems switch has beaten. So far nintendo has won generations 3, 4 7, and now either 8 or 9. Just keeping a tally of how many championships they have compared to sony.

why does it matter?  .

what generation was pinball?

Thats my question. I also think itd be helpful to identify what generation mario is since its the biggest gaming franchise.

Super Mario Bros. is a gen 3 game released on the Famicom, Pinball and Donkey Kong aren't part of console generations because they were arcade games at first.

Well, DK can maybe be considered gen 2, but I think the first Pinball machine is older than consoles.

It's a handheld, Nintendo won all handheld generations.

For people saying we put Switch and Switch 2 in the same generation, if you look at the front page it says "Current" as those are the four consoles still in production and being sold.

PS4 was also still being produced until 2022 but I don't remember the PS4 being listed as "current" on the front page in 2022.

Looks like chatgpt agrees with what ive been saying here

Example 5 thousand of Artificial Dumbness getting things wrong and spitting lies as they are facts:

While I share your general feeling, in this case artificial dumbness only did what it has been asked to do- he didn't ask it to answer what gen the switch factually belongs to, he asked it to argue for the point that it belongs to the 8th gen.

Gens are defined by successive hardware, not hardware strength. Therefore, Wii-U and Switch can not be the same generation.

It is what it is.

This thread was made so the OP can say which Playstation it outsold and how many "championships" it has over it, his words, which is all of them except the PS2, it's meaningless if it's either the PS4 or PS5.

Doesn't change the fact it is a handheld, and in that it has even more "championships", because it has all of them.

Its a console too.

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

Switch was a first generation hybrid. Switch 2 is second gen.
