Can you show me where I ever said any of that?

Then explain why switch1 is 9th genn and not 8th,  and why switch2 is 10th genn and not 9th.

I didn't say that either. I simply pointed out that your criteria for defining Switch as Gen 8 is arbitrary; you say PS5 is 9th because it's still selling, but so is Switch.

You say it was because Switch was released during Gen 8, but then why is March 2017 "during gen 8" but November 2020 suddenly next gen?

Both with Switch 1, and in a few years Switch 2, respectively. The 8th gen consists of Switch, WiiU, PS4 & Xbox One and Nintendo won that one with Switch just like it won the 7th one with Wii and just like it will win the 9th one with Switch 2 ( and the 10th one too, since it will cover most of the lifespan of PS6 & Xbox Prime too ). It's a no brainer. Anyone insisting Switch belongs to the current 9th gen, really should get his facts straight, it nonsense that makes no sense at all and only wishful thinking by random sony fans that can't deal with the fact that Nintendo won and will keep winning every gen, with the only exception ever being the PS1 & PS2 gens for home consoles, and only those.

I mean the thing is that theyre basically having to choose which gen they lost, 8th or 9th. Seems most have settled on a willingness to lose 9th gen over 8th gen, i think part of that could be that they dont want us to be in position to 3peat (3 championships in a row)

Doesn't matter what they think, it's called being delusional and not accepting the facts as they are. Nintendo already 2peated in a row ( for it's 2nd time after NES/SNES ) and now goes on for it's 3th win. Sony did a 2peat with PS1 & PS2, and that's it, it's never going to happen ever again, they can't surpass Nintendo, especially now with no exclusives anymore and being more like a low budget PC than a console. And to be frank Nintendo also did a 5peat with all it's portables too.

Wii U and Switch outsold the PS4 so Nintendo won that but I doubt the Switch 2 will outsell the PS5

Easily. It's the fastest selling console by far, already above 16m in 7 months ( in 13 days they will confirm it officially too ). I can see it reaching 200m in 10 years and it will cover nearly the others ones whole 10th gen too, consisting of PS6 & Xbox Prime. PS5? Xbox Series S/X? Pah. Switch 2 will ousell Xbox Series S/X by the end of 2026 and PS5 by the end of 2029, they are no big deal. And then will go on to sell even as much as 200m until 2035 or so.

I love this post. Everything you're saying in it is so true. This should be featured on the front page of the website.  Maybe if i ever work up to site admin one day, I'll do that

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

The way I see it, WiiU was up against xbox one and ps4 and lost miserably. NS1 is still up against xbox series and PS5, and it still managed to outsell xbox series last year world wide and still managed to outside PS5 in Japan even with NS2 being on the market for half a year.

Or is nintendo the only one who says when the next genn is upon us?

But why did the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series start a new generation, but not the Switch?

Meanwhile Steam has 220,000,000 monthly users and continues to grow.

Let me help you, you seem confused:

3th gen: NES (1983)

4th gen: Mega Drive (1988)

5th gen: 3DO (1993)

6th gen: Dreamcast (1998)

7th gen: Xbox 360 (2005)

8th gen: Wii U (2012)

See? Nobody can or want to make that claim. It is really baffling how you got to that non sensical conclusion from your exchanges in this thread.

You are the one that is basically saying that Nintendo can't start a generation for no good reason

The problem is steam has never even come close to winning a championship though.
