Forums - Gaming - Happy New Year! Wanna Feel Old? (2026 Edition.)

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, SMOdyssey, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Cuphead, Fortnite, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Splatoon 2, MarioKart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Resident Evil Biohazard will all be a decade old next year.

And… Pokémon Go, Super Mario Run, Overwatch, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy XV, and the reveal of Nintendo Switch will have been a decade ago in only a few months.

Time flies, doesn’t it? Crazy to think we still haven’t gotten a follow up entry to so many games on this list (most notably, nothing from 3D Mario).

Crazy how long it takes to get new games now.

Persona series is having it's 30th anniversary now... Persona 5 was released on the 20th anniversary.

So Persona 1-5 in 20 years, but 10 years after that still no Persona 6 lol.

I also like how the TES6 announcement is now older than Skyrim was when they announced it. Skyrims 15th anniversary this year.

I think you mean Resident Evil Biohazard lol. Still can’t believe how time is flying

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Oops good catch

Happy new year!

Wanna feel young?

I'm turning 52 this year :p Grew up with 14" B&W TV with 8 channels, one tv in the house.

The future I grew up with:

Knight Rider

Still no real self driving talking cars 43 years later but getting close. More legal / safety issues now than technical.

What I think of as "Nintendo 20 years ago":

What is actually is:

Porting, spinoffs and remaking also takes time.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

The Resident Evil series is going to be 30 years old.

The Nintendo 64 came out 30 years ago this year.

The Zelda series turns 40 years old this year. And I was there for it. 40 years before the first Zelda came out, almost all American homes still had radio as their primary broadcast medium, and less than a percent owned a TV set.

Ai will bring games to us sooner... if you accept it. If you rail against it you'll not only topple the games industry but the entirety of the global financial system.

Digital distribution also brought us games 'sooner'. How did that end up. (Broken games at release, rise of ftp mtx slop) Can't wait for AI to accelerate the race to the bottom....

The global financial system will be fine, US economy however... But that's going down the drain anyway, Trump is making sure of that.
