Dragon's Dogma 2 I just did not like but enjoyed Arisen quite a bit.

Contra Rogue Corps is absolute dogshit.

I did not like Metroid Prime 2. Bad game? no. Just didn't gel with me.

I could not get into ToTK. Nothing against the game just could not get into it.

Ys IX just being tower defense. I loath tower defense.

Doom Eternal. I love the DMC series and genre. I like Doom 2016 a lot. I don't like merging the two.

I love Dakrsiders 1-2 but III just sucks. I don't like Souls and I like bad Souls clones even less.

Golden Axe Beastrider SUUUUUUUUUCKS.

I love Wind Waker. One of my fave Zelda's but Phantom Hourglass is shit.

I love the first Shenmue. Meh on Shenmue II but III stinks. It's ugly. Has that shitty stamina mechanic and does not advance the story.

Killzone 2 and 3 were terrific; Killzone Shadowfall was crap, it sucked all the soul out of it and made it just another generic shooter.

Dead Space 1 and 2 were superb, 3 was dogshit as they tried so hard to make it an action game that it just became a relentless barrage of meaningless sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Perfect Dark on N64 was amazing; Perfect Dark Zero on 360 was terrible.

I love the Yoshi series (especially Yoshi's Island). Yoshi's Island DS though... really not for me. Felt like they got pretty cheap with some of the level design, and not sure the baby swap mechanic works too well at times. That said, it's been years since I played it.

Breath of the Wild to Tears of the Kingdom was depressing.

Man, I wanted to love TotK so much. But after like 10 hours or so I had to put it down. I was just not having fun. The sense of discovery and wonder of BotW wasn't really there anymore... and that was like half of what made that game so great to me in the first place.

I don't know, maybe I'll try it again after some time. Maybe I need to "forget" BotW a bit more before I can enjoy TotK xD

Personally, I was disappointed in various degrees with these sequels:

  • Kingdom Hearts II compared to Kingdom Hearts I (in some aspects)
  • Kingdom Hearts III compared to Kingdom Hearts II (overall disappointment)
  • Pokémon Legends Z-A compared to Pokémon Legends Arceus (overall disappointment)
  • God of War (2018) compared to greek God of War games (overall disappointment)
  • DOOM Eternal compared to DOOM (2016) (overall disappointment)
  • Bayonetta 3 compared to Bayonetta 2 (in some aspects)
  • Super Punch-Out!! compared to Punch-Out!! NES (overall disappointment)
  • Super Mario Odyssey compared to Super Mario 3D World/Galaxy (in some aspects)
  • Splatoon 2 compared to Splatoon (in some aspects)
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps compared to Ori and the Blind Forest (overall disappointment)
  • Wario Land II compared to Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (overall disappointment)
  • Final Fantasy XII compared to Final Fantasy X (overall disappointment)
  • Star Wars The Force Unleashed II compared to Star Wars The Force Unleashed I (overall disappointment)
  • Jak II compared to Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (in some aspects)
  • Tekken 7 compared to Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (overall disappointment)
  • Super Smash Bros. 4 and Ultimate compared to Super Smash Bros. Brawl (overall disappointment)
  • FAST Fusion compared to FAST RMX (overall disappointment)

I'll probably get ripped for this one, but sincerely, Mario World 2... didn't like it much. Mario World was great, but that stupid crying baby Mario was awful. And it was a Yoshi game, which for some reason I can't get into tossing eggs around the screen.

I first started the series on PS4. Finished the first game but dropped the second after about 4-5 hours. The beginning just bored me to death and that ended my journey with the series. I see KH2 often regarded as the best online.

Oh great call with Tekken Tag 2 to 7 !

I had been hooked on Tekken since the first entry (I think it was 5 that I didn't care for much but it was still alright) you get the fantastic Tag 2 then with 7 they strip out Team battle. With 8 you have to start paying rather than playing to fill out your roster and I loathed the Heat mechanic they ripped off from Street Fighter.  I hated that so much that I never even thought about buying 9.  The series is dead to me now which is a shame considering how much my friends and I played all the previous entries.

The series peaked for me with Tag 2 then went straight to hell after.  What a shame.  This is probably the only example where I can say I hate a sequel and the fact I didn't even think about it when the topic came up shows just how much the series is dead to me.

I have zero problems with the opening hours of KH2. I actually love that.

KH2 is great at what it does. I really like it. But the gameplay and level design was incredibly simplified compared to KH1 in favor of a more dynamic and engaging combat. Platforming sections/verticality? Gone. Worlds full of secrets? Gone. Interactivity with said worlds? Gone. Imaginative stories for Disney worlds that integrate them into the KH universe and make the KH characters integrate into them in return? This game is where they begin to be gone.

KH2 is still a great game, but it completely destroyed what made KH1 great in the first place. And things would only get worse in future games.

LoD.

It has the worst sequel ever: none.

Starfox 64 is a masterpiece, Starfox Adventures is a mediocre Zelda clone without a shred of its predecessor's brilliance, and the first game that showed Rare had lost their spark.
