You have got to be kidding me. We got an update from Chris Dring. He provided WRONG data.

"Deleted previous post. My report had some double counting going on. In the UK for November, Nintendo console sales (Switch 2 + Switch 1) are up 41% year-on-year, PS5 console sales were down 29%, and Xbox sales were down 51%. Overall, console sales for November (pre-Black Friday) were down 17%."

Edit: Yes this means adjusting PS5 back up a bit in Europe. Though will still be down compared to what we had it at. Give me sometime with this.

Jesus fucking Christ lmao

So Switch 2 numbers will go up now?

Switch 2, Switch 1, and Xbox Series all adjusted up from even the initial estimates.

With how close it is now which year has the record is basically unknowable till the next quarter report. Would be funny if this thread needs another title change later.

Entirely possible. But if we are off in any regions it is most likely to be Latin America and Asia.

Love the transparency.

Sadly some people since NeoGAF and now on Resetera keep on shitting on numbers from here, but those are estimates, not tracking reports.

When better info is available the estimates are adjusted accordingly to better represent the potential real results, until they are available.

IMO every estimate change being laid down like this is great, creates a timeline of the improvements and solidify what they are, estimates.

Yeah I know how people think of VGChartz on other sites. At least NeoGAF and ResetEra. Most people on InstallBase understand how we do our estimates at least.

I've been trying to be more transparent with the estimates and being open to the fact we do adjust them when more data comes in.

Wherever I comment, I challenge users who flame VGChartz and recommend them to go check the definition of the word 'estimation'.

Sell-through data doesn't get reported from anyone afaik, let alone shipments, just look at Xbox. Additionally, not even Circana provide sell-through data anymore (which they did back then, iirc).

And with the exception of very few markets, we literally don't get anything.

Official shipment data has always been the guidance for adjustments, and certainly you guys are not afraid to admit to that, even advocate for it in your disclaimer.

I'll never understand how anyone would get upset about your service. And last calender/fiscal year, too, the deviation of your estimates compared to shipment data (which HAVE to be consequential and reasonable by necessity) where "off" by a margin of under 5% - which ultimately can't be determined anyway since there are no sell-through data reports.

I may be disagreeing with your guys' Series estimates, but I can't deny that I don't have any factual proof of it, either.

So it's basically an open discussion, and perhaps somewhere in the future data will be provided/get leaked (which I am surprised it did not happen yet anyway).

In short - you're doing a great job. And I am advocating for a healthy discussion about you whenever I can wherever I spot flaming.

Sony already moved their main PlayStation headquarters to the USA in 2016. Maybe it's time to move the main headquarters to the UK or maybe an EU member nation.
