Forums - Sales - US Sales: November 2025 (Circana)

I find the reactions here and other forums interesting regarding Switch 2. I think in the end, Switch 2, so far, is doing really well, despite a lower than expected November result. But one November result doesn’t mean anything long-term, especially when the Switch 1 got outsold by the PS4 in 2017 and 2018. Not to mention that Switch 2 sold more in its first November than Switch 1 did in November 2017 in the US.

Switch 2 doing this well WITHOUT 3D Mario, Zelda, next-gen Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Smash, etc., has to indicate that the platform itself is building intrigue, has room to grow, and Nintendo has wiggle room to get more consumers to buy their product. Sure things could be better, but I feel, outside of Nintendo releasing more first party games (which they will), it’s affected by outside factors Nintendo can’t control. Apparently Switch 2 is off to a better start than Switch 1 did in Europe so getting their big guns (other than Mario Kart World) will be key in the next few years or so. The other part is the economic downturn due to political issues and the rising costs of key parts and materials. Nintendo will just have to hang on or figure out how to compensate since the Switch 2 apparently isn’t really selling at a profit in the first place.

But what we’ve seen so far, at least in Japan, that Switch 2 is building some momentum. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but December could really be interesting for Nintendo. December is usually their best month so we’ll see how Switch 2 performs.

I have people on this forum who owe me an apology in regards to Switch 2. I really wish I saved the threads we were talking in just to say I told ye so. It's about, almost exactly as I predicted.

Wow. Truly horrible hardware numbers, only 1.6 million for all systems combined is abysmal for November. That's shockingly bad.

I know the US economy has really gone off a cliff this year with the deranged political/economic leadership, but I mean damn, this is reallll bad for the gaming industry. I guess bad economy plus literally nothing in gaming being cheap anymore plus tariffs is just sinking the US industry right now.

PS5 is dominating Europe but that's about it. Nintendo is dominating Japan but already been weak in Europe for months and now these awful US Nov numbers are really making it look like the steam is already fading for the Switch 2 outside of Japan. Everyone desperately needs to lower their prices, though tariffs make that impossible in the US, and Switch 2 desperately needs to start getting games.

PS5 sold 3 million. It's bot bad for gaming, it's just bad for Nintendo.

It really feels Nintendo is becoming less and less popular every year outside Japan. Now they are mostly a Japanese brand while the west go ever harder into Steam and PS ecosystem.

The neocliffers gathering, no surprises here. They just cant get ahold of it

Hey guys I know this is probably posted already but can someone tell me how much the PS5 sold last November in the US. This year is 40% worse. So that data point would give us more context.

Do you ever get tired of bringing up a cliff concept from 8 years ago? Or is that just your go to response if someone doesn't believe the Switch 2 is the King of everything?

How dare anyone discuss low sales in a holiday month for a new console on a sales website. Not everything is about a cliff. The Switch 2 is going to sell just fine so relax and forget about your 2017 cliff nightmares.

Ah good point. I forgot about that… well at least the console gamers still have good taste compared to the west lol. (Also, mobile gatcha in Japan is like Roblox in the west.)

Japanese console gamers have good taste? The Pokémon game is mediocre. They basically buy brightly coloured family friendly games and Monster Hunter.

The west buys shooters, and Sports games. They also buy Read Dead Redemption 2(79m units sold), The Last of Us(20m+), Horizon: Zero Dwn(20m+), BG3(20m), Cyberpunk 2077(35m), the Witcher 3 etc. etc. They buy racing games like GT7 and FH5 and also full-on hardcore driving sims. They buy indie games in the tens of millions, like Hollow Knight, Stardew valley, terraria etc.

The same sports games and shooters might sell well every year but there’s enough of a market for games of all types to sell millions, for something like Hollow Knight Knight: Silksong to sell 7m at launch and Arc Raiders at 5m+, just like HD2 last year which is approaching 20m now. In Japan there is like a dozen successful franchises and everything else feeds of the scraps, selling in the 10-50k range at launch. How much did Clair Obscur sell in Japan?

Claire Obscure did actually ok given that it has no Japanese voice acting in a part of the world where peoples' English language skills are not great. Let alone French.

Being hyperbolic will get you nowhere.

If you cant find in this thread the difference of a normal discussion over a bad month to concern trolling then the problem is on you. But if it was another platform being the target, I bet you would be aware of what I am saying. Dare to say even getting along in exposing their bs behavior instead of snorting over my post

Not only that but EVERYTIME they get successful they have to burn themselves the generation after. Every. Time. And yes, they started their decline this time early by going after streamers and their own costumers but they still could have kept the success of the Switch going. One thing I'll give them credit for is they handled the tarrif situation well, at least after the first price reveal. I wish they could get it into their heads that their biggest swat of costumers are not loyal, they are everyday people, kids whose parents funds are melting and the rest are fickle as fuck.
