Forums - Gaming - Digital Foundry: Best Graphics of 2025

People rly should stop linking Digital Foundry videos.
Of these 3 only DS2 is worth top3 spots, other 2 especially Shadows is as average as as 2023 game can be, it not even on the level 2024 releases
There are many better channels that do similar thing as them but much better.
They were OKish 10 years ago, now they are joke of channel.

Average in what way, are you comparing the wrong thing since this is about the graphics of a game and the full pipeline not just about if you like a particular game which is totally different.

If you have played it then you will know. I am 50 hours in and I agree with digital foundry.
They have their own version of nanite with virtual geometry, they have their own hair trans technology which is beautiful. They have complex weather systems which.when to interacts with every piece of  environment and your character is stunning..  raytrace technology for lighting is stunning. It's basically everything in the engine has the latest tech running at a locked fps at decent high res is impressive
It deserves the number two spot.

How is Assassin's Creed Shadows in the top3 ? like that shouldn't happen.

also some of these Nintendo mentions feel like "participation trophy". They get a mention, just to drive traffic to their video.

Not sure what DF were really assessing, best tech or best art, but it seems to me (given the games in the video) they used both criteria, and if that's so, anyone that talks about best visuals in 2025 (that includes TGA) and does not include The Midnight Walk as one of the options is, IMO, automatically disqualifying themselves from the conversation.

Hand sculpted clay is also still best tech in my book ;) Still looks better than any digital creation. Playing Wallace and Gromit the Grand Getaway after The Midnight Walk shows the stark difference. Animating at low fps is so not the same as Claymation.

TGA were a shame, not even nominated for best Art.

I just bough this to watch during Christmas :)

Watched that trailer and thought, that was beautifully laid out..... also really well done.
Actually went to google were to watch, because of it... sadly its only Hulu and Disney+
(which I did have like 6months of, but never saw this movie then).
If I resub to disney, this goes on the watch list though.

I thought bananza looked the best. But I also haven't played any of the top 3 games on the list.

I have Disney+ through my cable provider (with ads), but bought the blu-ray for my collection. Will wait for that to arrive.
Together with the new Wes Anderson movie, the Phoenician scheme. I know nothing about the movie yet, gonna be all new watching it during the holidays :)

Claymation and Wes Anderson are my guilty pleasures.

You've probably already watched it, yet otherwise Box Trolls is a much watch :)

And probably play The Midnight Walk again during the holidays!

Doom would be my pick for best looking as well, phenomenal looking game.

Personally, even for "best on Switch 2" I wouldn't nominate the likes of Mario Kart World or Kirby Air Riders as while they are nice looking games, they're fairly graphically conservative even by Switch 2 standards, I'd lean more towards games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hitman.

I thought expedition 33 was gorgeous.

i7-13700k

Vengeance 32 gb

RTX 4090 Ventus 3x E OC

Switch OLED

I liked the graphics of Mafia: The Old Country. Silent Hill f also looked good to my eyes and on Switch 2 I was impressed by Cyberpunk.

I'm no expert though, I don't know too much about the tech of today and frankly I stopped caring about graphics about ten years ago. I still think RDR2 is the most beautiful game out there, just because of its lively world and the top notch art style. I was never that immersed in a game. I myself didn't see any game this year that looked better to my eyes. But what the hell do I know. =P
