Japan saving again Nintendo.
Kirby is doing moderate worldwide but Japan is here to help !!!

Around the Network

Sony wanted their propaganda win over Switch 2 as their loyal accolytes get from European PS5 sales. Didn't achieve that at all in Japan.

Rest assured Nintendo has stocked a lot of consoles to Japan this holiday, to safely achieve their sales target.

That is what make people frustrated by Japan, the propaganda of the hugely in demand PS5 rest on Ps5 outselling their competitors everywhere. Japan always dampens that excitement.

Kirby did a lot better than I expected. Interesting how much more OLED and Lite sell than OG Switch, I wonder if it will be the first SKU discontinued in the future, at least for Japan.

Again ? Lmao Nintendo don’t need to be save

You gotta admire people who can somehow manage to think Nintendo is struggling while having the fastest selling console ever.

Decent opening numbers for JP-only digital PS5.

We’ll see if Sony can build on this.

Switch 1 selling ~30k in its 9th holiday season is an unprecedented feat.

Kirby with a great opening weekend and Switch 2 continues to kill it. We’ll see how well the game sells the rest of this holiday season as well as just how much stock Nintendo prepared for Switch 2 in December.

Here is a list of other Kirby opening weeks in Japan:

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – 380,060
Kirby Super Star Ultra – 260,867
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards – 245,508
Kirby Triple Deluxe – 225,448
Kirby Star Allies – 223,811
Kirby Air Riders – 195,594
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land – 189,843
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror – 176,225
Kirby: Planet Robobot – 153,878
Kirby Squeak Squad – 151,147
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land – 144,121
Kirby Super Star – 141,621
Kirby’s Epic Yarn – 109,253
Kirby Canvas Curse – 72,102
Kirby Mass Attack – 70,675
Kirby & the Rainbow Curse – 33,334
Kirby’s Dream Land 2 – 69,518
Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn – 9,456

Incredible opening weekend for Air Riders! When accounting for digital, this likely placing the game as having the second biggest launch in the franchise history— I’d imagine digital is much higher now than when Star Allies released. For being such an early gen release, I could definitely see this game cranking out >5mil LTD.

I think it would need the rest of the world to do that, but in Japan it could comfortably crack 1.5m if it legs sustain but we'll have to see

Might have to see next week but the cheaper PS5 seems to have sucked up demand from the week prior instead of actually increasing demand.
