For God's sake bro, why is debt even a problem? Even if you lose your job you can just find another! Even working at McDonalds can be fun, and you still get to meet new people. I used to work at very exhuasting conditions in the hospitality sector once, but looking back it was also very fun. Even moaning about the conditions was fun. 😂
AI could be a blessing instead of a curse, if we choose the right politicians it would mean that more small businesses can survive since their spending would be less. Even better if we get AI robots at some point. That would increase the overall productivity of countries, and having a job can just an option. Governments will have enough money to sustain food production etc and offer a basic living at least, for jobless people.
What worries me the most is the moden lack of empathy and spirituality, exaggerated division and hate against different bellefs - which gives power to people like Trump. We live the best times of humanity, yet too many people are on mental pills.
Lack of justice is also a major concern, you just can't have the US president supporting a mass criminal such as Putin. If titan countries are allowed to conquer their neighbors without consequences, then I agree that the future is very gloomy...
Environment is a genuine concern - Europe can't save the planet on its own while others keep destroying it for money.
Where do you live btw? EU countries are some of the best places to live at the moment. Having free access to decent health care is a good stress relief on its own. 🙏
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
I feel that way because of heartless rich idiots, climate disasters, and AI taking more and more people's jobs. Wish people would rise up against the scum responsible for the world's downward spiral.

As for global warming and very cynically.
Humanity has never been at peace throughout its existence, neither today nor 4,000 years ago. We're simply made this way: we're both fantastic creators and destroyers of our own destiny as a community; just look at history. And I don't think anything can be done about it, either now or in the future.
Ignore the world out there. Let them do what they want, but don't let it influence you—with careerism, competition, social standards, the wealth of others.
Live for yourself and that's it; create your own happy place where you and your loved ones can live a fulfilling life. Find a job that gives you satisfaction, not that will make you rich. Look for someone who shares your passion and loves you unconditionally, not someone who's just beautiful on the outside to be shown off like a trophy. Focus only on your small community and help each other, because the problems of a big city or a large nation are not your problems.
I believe that the only thing that matters is your own personal life experience, not that of the human species as a whole, nor its destiny.
For the rest, continue to cultivate your imagination, even if it's just a passion for video games: it's a great way to escape the monotony of everyday life :)
A lot of the mental problems people have come with abuse of the social internet (that includes all forms of socializing on the internet). And my personal opinion is addiction isn’t a disease like many 20th century psychologists claimed… dependence (which results from addiction) is a disease that can be treated with therapy or in severe cases medications (such as hormonal production damage from longterm use of opiates), but addiction itself is a part of lifestyle. You change your lifestyle to something that doesn’t cater to an addiction (which is a habit that damages your mental/physical health and/or that of others because of productivity and social dysfunction among other things), you fix your addiction… and the people that know this can stop a lot of their addictions (sans dependencies that can result from addiction, like alcoholism). It’s just a matter then of not slipping back into it, a lot of the time it’s setting-related. If you’re addicted to video games… get rid of your game room, delete your app stores.
Get outside on every day that’s not clouded over. Get some sun (wear sunscreen if the UV is high). There are two categories of rays that are of interest, the infrared and the UV, the infrared has a positive impact on your cell organelles, particularly mitochondria. And the IR light can penetrate clothing and sunscreen (the photons have longer waves, and so aren’t broken up as easily as UV and the visible spectrum). When you’re indoors, some of it gets through (like radio waves), but a lot of it is blocked. Cloudy days block a lot of the IR (it scatters it, it’s the same mechanics behind the greenhouse effect) so you can skip those days. But get out on sunny days… even a walk through a shaded forest will be helpful (forest bathing they call it).
Long story short: there’s wisdom behind “touch grass” (even if it comes from someone trying to insult you, taking that advice can only do you good).
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I feel the same way sometimes and believe that civilization has peaked. How can the world survive when oil peaks? EVs?
Well what happens when everyone has an EV and the minerals get too expensive? That is the point where civilization will start declining. It could also be starting right now. People are getting fatter and fatter for a variety of reasons and this as well as everyone being glued to a phone has led to a reverse Flynn effect.
If we are getting a bit dumber then things are technically going downhill, even if from a paradoxical result of our success.
If society is going to hell then why should we care? The only answer I have is existentialism where myself, family and friends are all that should matter.
Finally, I'll challenge anyone saying that we just have to keep thinking happy bc darkness lurks everywhere.
I can think of worse things than not having to work because AI does it for us. Unless you live in the US, in that case RIP.
I believe that the next 50-100 years will largely get us into a post-scarcity society. Granted, that’s not gonna help us right now, but future doom is not what I imagine.

Is there a reason to believe that it will happen soon, even if one is a Christian? I’m not really clued in.
