Humanity has never been at peace throughout its existence, neither today nor 4,000 years ago. We're simply made this way: we're both fantastic creators and destroyers of our own destiny as a community; just look at history. And I don't think anything can be done about it, either now or in the future.
Ignore the world out there. Let them do what they want, but don't let it influence you—with careerism, competition, social standards, the wealth of others.
Live for yourself and that's it; create your own happy place where you and your loved ones can live a fulfilling life. Find a job that gives you satisfaction, not that will make you rich. Look for someone who shares your passion and loves you unconditionally, not someone who's just beautiful on the outside to be shown off like a trophy. Focus only on your small community and help each other, because the problems of a big city or a large nation are not your problems.
I believe that the only thing that matters is your own personal life experience, not that of the human species as a whole, nor its destiny.
For the rest, continue to cultivate your imagination, even if it's just a passion for video games: it's a great way to escape the monotony of everyday life :)
