But you can turn it off by holding the power button for ~5 seconds, then select "Power Options" -> "Power Off".

I'm with @Vodacixi I think you may need to use your warranty. What you are describing is not how mine works. It can be asleep for a week on the dock and i just have to give the power button on the console a quick press to wake it back up. I do not have to do what you are describing. |
I'm coming to that conclusion as well. Never had this problem in 8 years of having my Switch, and my wife isn't having this issue either on her Switch 2. Was hoping it was just a bug that Nintendo will eventually patch out, but I haven't seen forums on the internet so far that is experiencing the same issue lol so I probably got a lemon.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind
I wish it had an achievement system, better friend system, background themes, the Miiverse, eshop music, leaving reviews on eshop.

The lack of fun little easter eggs on the Switch 2 console/joy cons/pro controller is definitely something I’d change. Where’s my THX2ALLGAMEFANS, Nintendo?? :(

Exactly that - originally I proposed a while ago in some thread U3 SD Cards, but even U1 exceeds BD Ray read speeds. Both are very cheap, and that would solve the problem of expensive physical media storage, giving users option of having actual physical media, with a caveat that it needs to be installed on internal storage - like with other consoles.
Current Game Cards would remain as premium physical option, acting as actual Game Cartridges.

Yes. Cheaper and slow storage to store games. Some games are quite small in size, less than 8GB even. And there are plenty of cheap cards available in mass market, so this would reduce physical costs
This is a general Switch ecosystem change, but I'd like to see Nintendo make an official Joycon with an actual d-pad on it. That's honestly probably my biggest issue with the hardware, I'd like a d-pad without having to buy a third party Joycon.
OLED would be nice to have, but that's almost definitely going to happen, so no point in whining about that.
I would like to see Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime Video, etc. apps. I don't like having to carry a tablet and a Switch 2 every flight, the Switch 2 can easily run those services and has a nice large display, it would be nice to be able to just have that all on one device.
Otherwise I'm quite happy with the hardware, it's a nice, powerful system at a reasonable cost.
Game Install cartridges I think are pointless, you're just paying more to have the ability to transfer data onto the internal storage and no one lives in the stone age anymore, virtually everyone has an internet connection these days. It's not even a popular option on the Playstation 5, aren't like 85% of sales digital now? Because most people understand the whole "game on disc" is effectively useless, in many cases the full game isn't even on the disc and requires an immediate download or a download within the first month of release rendering the whole "yeah but I have the whole game on a physical format!" argument moot. No you don't have the entire game in a physical format, any kind of required download renders that argument null and void.

Yeah I don't understand the previous few comments about game install cards. The issue with GKCs isn't with the fact that the game data isn't actually on there, the issue is the fact that you're buying something physical that isn't really a physical game because you have to download the game anyway to play it. Slow game install cartridges, the way they are being described, is just the exact same thing - a physical cartridge that you can't actually play off the card and have to download to play. Whether the data is on the card or not doesn't matter, all that matters is if you can play it off the card or if you are required to download the game. GKC and GIC have the same issues.
Though I guess their argument is just that GIC would be a little bit cheaper (not that this would change the price of games though, so it wouldn't matter anyway for consumers)? I thought GKC were basically just an empty card with a tiny bit of data to store a game key. Which would be way cheaper than something that has to store an entire game. Or is it that S2 is only compatible with that expensive card type so GKCs are just smaller sizes of the expensive Switch 2 cards with just a bunch of wasted unused storage?
This might go against logic, but I think the screen should have been 720p instead of 1080p. And maybe make it OLED. It would come with a lot of pros:
1. Games run better
2. Better battery
3. Running Switch 1 games wouldn't involve having to play an upscaled 720p game on a 1080p screen.
At that size and form factor, I don't think a 1080p screen is necessary, and just makes the battery and performance worse than it could have been.
I would make it so that when you get certain achievements in games, it would bake you delicious baked goods. Like, when you beat the first world of a game you get a warm chocolate chip cookie and when you beat the game a cinnamon roll.
