Thats just an assumption on the Devs part. If we can see 3rd party devs out preform 1st party devs, then it just proves that's not true.

A small example below,

Spiderman 2: a 1st party game, released with many game breaking bugs.

Balders Gate 3: a 3rd party game, released more polished and had to release on everything.

It all falls under the quality of the Devs, not the amount of hardware it releases on.

I must add, you may have chosen two of the worst possible examples for making your point: BG3 is infamous for suffering from some major bugs and glitches later on in the game. Also, SM2 is not a game with “many game breaking bugs”—well, at least not anymore than your average game—but is among the most critically acclaimed releases of the generation.

That said, I would agree with Curl’s point here that in-house exclusivity does motivate developers responsible for hard to output premium experience, since otherwise system sales may not move. Simply look at the GotY nominees from since 2013: Nintendo and Sony dominate nominations and overall awards. There aren’t many devs in the industry who can compare to Sony and Nintendo in terms of their in-house software output. (Additionally, recall how hard Sega’s quality assurance plummeted following their departure from the hardware business.)

Sega has issues with quality during the Sega Saturn. If anything, Sega games now are better then they ever have been.

GOTY awards has nothing to do with game optimisation, Zelda BOTW had preformance issues, TLOU1 had preformance issues etc.

Also those games releasing on other platforms might have run better proving the exact opposite to your point. Imagine TLOU1 on the 360 or BOTW on the PS4/XB1?

You guys are stuck with this narratives that games are better on one platform which is false. Some of the best games ever made are on PC and they have to optimise for heaps of PC configurations.

And actually no, Nintendo and Sony first party exclusives for instance are far better than most multiplatform titles.

This. Spider-Man 2 and Death Stranding 2 are the best looking games I've played on my PS5 and both are exclusive games. Even going back to the PS3, The Last of Us is the best looking game of that console and it's again a exclusive.

Tears of the Kingdom is the most impressive game on Switch and it's a exclusive again. Nintendo games in general are very polished and the best looking of their respective consoles. And it's all because they know their hardware better than anyone, because... well... they only make games for their hardware.

Yes you do.

Spider-Man 2 was rushed to meet holiday sales. It was buggy as hell for me buying on launch but I had nothing game-breaking. I had cars driving through buildings. I fell through the world. Trapped in a building where I saw everything outside. I turned into a white cube a few times. Going back to a checkpoint, and I was fine. I saw people ascend buodings lol. It was mostly funny bugs but it was rushed. That had nothing to do with exclusive or not. That had to so with Sony pushing it out the door before it was ready. They patched the game and it was fine. If that is your example, then I can counter it with Cyberpunk 2077 and every fucking Bethesda game ever made.

Have you played Spiderman 2 and BOTW? why are you ignoring the preformance issues? Why do they have preformance issues? Single platform, 1 focus..

By your logic, GTA6 is going to be terrible because of its multiplatform approach, it won't be able to compete with those 1st party titles. Your logic not mine.

Soooo its got nothing to do with single focus platform but more to do with timelines.. like every game made.

Weather you enjoy the bugs does not justify the bugs. You could literally say the same thing with every game with bugs.

Bethesda games? Okay how was Doom and Indiana Jones? Multiple system releases, they seem to have less bugs then Spiderman 2.. how is that possible?

The point is game development depends on budget and timelines. Reducing platforms does not increase the budget of the game. 1st party games still have the same issues as 3rd party games.

BOTW runs in 30fps 99% of the time. The only place with prolonged frame rate drops is Korok Forest. The way you talk is like the game struggle to run in 30 fps all the time and it's not the case, lol

Spider Man 2 doesn't have any performance issues. It was a flawless 60 fps experience for me.

I'm guessing you're the one who never touched these two games.

And I also never said multiplatform games are terrible.

I'll repeat what Curl said. Exclusive games can look better because they're made for one hardware. This is the case for mostly every Nintendo game since the NES. They're the best of their hardware.

Exclusive games pretty much end up being some of the best games so I'm inclined to say yes, it's good for the people playing them at least.
