I found mass effect 2 disappointing. It ended too abruptly, didn't like how it ended. Plus alot of filler side quests

On a more positive note, I have loved many games that sold poorly; Enslaved Odyssey to the West for its setting, style, and story; Stranglehold for its over the top gun fu action, Ace Combat 6 for its large scale battles and soundtrack, Conker's Bad Fur Day for its humour and variety.

Enslaved was great. The characters still stick around in my mind. Indeed great style and setting. (Story I don't remember)

Another game I enjoyed a lot despite bad reviews and low sales is Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. Great puzzle action adventure.

I initially skipped it as well with reviews like this:

"Majin and the Forsaken is the definition of a mediocre title. Nearly every aspect of the game is bland and unoriginal, with the exception of a great control scheme when it comes to controlling the non-playable Majin. Some players may find a tolerable adventure in the game, but don't expect much else."

Picked it up later in the bargain bin as it still looked interesting to me. I was not disappointed, enjoyed it from start to finish. Latest user review:

"Underrated Gem, a truly charming Zelda like adventure while it does nothing new the game looks good and has good puzzles, and some interesting references to mayan culture. Not on the same league than zelda but there were not many games like this on ps3 and xbox 360"

There are not many games like it period. One of the last A games together with Enslaved Odyssey to the West.

I enjoyed Majin a lot more than Waggle Zelda. Doing something 'new' doesn't always turn out well. Also more than Twilight Princess, didn't finish that one either. (The shadow realm had awful grating sound I couldn't stand...)

@KratosLives Same feelings about Mass Effect 2. The first one I played twice, loved it. ME2 went too much shooter and didn't feel like it progressed the story at all. The classic imminent threat but lets dawdle around for a whole game. I didn't buy ME3 because of it, never played the 3rd.

Underrated is Bioshock 2. Initially skipped because of reviews. I played the 3rd one before 2, which was good but the hype was over the top. It wasn't that good, especially the ending was kinda bad. Then I played Bioshock 2 and it became my favorite of the three, best gameplay of the three.

I liked almost every Sonic game the critic called "trash".

Probably Fortnite, PUBG and just about any online game. Also Pokémon. And sports games.

On the other hand, I still think Dead or Alive 6 is the best fighting game ever and I play it until this very day. I don't know about sales, but it seems like it didn't too well and Updates were stopped pretty early. There are also no signs whatsover of a successor, sadly.

Pretty much any popular big open world type of game. But most notably Elden Ring, Zelda Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn. I single out these games because I gave them a real chance. I simply like linear games more I guess.

Another one is Diablo 4. For me it is no contest the worst in the franchise. I even prefer the mobile game.

I think all of the "make your own adventure" games are like doing chores to fill in checkboxes. Without a set direction it feels as aimless as life and sorry but I do not want to play things that try to mimic life, I have the life for that.

Any Naughty Dog game. I’ll play through the games after a deep sale and wonder why they’re considered video games.

Story’s are fine, but many put them on this pedestal and somehow mainstream games media does the same lol. I like to play video game video games, and Naughty Dog has some of the clunkiest, most unenjoyable gameplay I’ve ever experienced.

ND games seem clunky to you? You must be living in a parallel universe.

GTA V. I hate almost everything about it. The gameplay is clunky, missions are terrible, story is awful, characters are all completely unlikeable and uninteresting, visually the game looks really bland. I will never understand how rockstar can get away with making such a crap game with so many obvious flaws.
The cod series is pretty bad, I've tried a few games in the series and have never found any of them fun at all.

Any realistic shooting game that uses gun. I don't get the appel of shooting someone. In fact, if the majority of the time, the game requests you murder people, I lose interest immediatly

Nah it's very enjoyable to shoot Aliens on Mass Effect or Deathclaws on Fallout. :P

Not to mention masterpieces like Resident Evil & Dead Space Series.

Virtua Fighter should have occupied the same place in the market that ultimately ended up being occupied by Tekken.

I return to say I disagree with the market on Fatal Frame, because the series should be as popular as Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Double baffling that the series didn't even become more popular after the rise of indie horror games. Hope that FF2R changes that, but even the reveal didn't get all the attention I with it got.
Fatal Frame is peak horror, go play it you all.
