White House Insiders deliver stark message about midterm elections : “ Trump literally does not care”

Hmm, perhaps this apathy is either because Trump is looking for a way out, or is a direct result of the dementia itself. It must be very worrying to be developing dementia but also he realizes that it will be very humiliating which is the worst thing for a narcissist. Trump may secretly hope that the Dems do in fact win both the House and Senate so that he won’t have to deal with such a difficult job. I complain about Trump all the time but it doesn’t hurt trying to understand him and his choices.

It's the same attitude as he has with the Iran war, see 2:44

Everything is fake news but his secret negotiations where Iran is begging for a peace deal...

Perhaps he believes he has the midterms rigged, everything that doesn't fit what he wants is fake news. Maybe it's dementia, maybe it's pathological narcissism. Trump is no longer living in reality, he's in his own fantasy world surrounded by yes men. He knows better than everyone else because he's the president.

I think it's because he can't get elected anymore, so if there's nothing for himself to win, he won't care about it.

He’s setting himself up to be removed by the incoming democrats though.  So, some amount of apathy is apparent in this case.

There is no scenario in which Democrats will have a large enough Senate majority to convict him in an impeachment trial. Best-case scenario is 51-49, and that's only if they win Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, Alaska, Texas, AND Fetterman doesn't switch parties, not that the last matters, since he's basically been a Republican in Democrat clothing anyway.

And I'm personally not expecting any less from Texas than to elect an unrepentant fraudster and adulterer who turned a known pedophile loose on the streets of Waco with almost no punishment.

To clarify, the distinction centers on the difference between current law and a future proposal. Right now, these immigrants cannot legally vote, so they aren't 'stealing' elections. What I posted is a policy proposal for what could happen if a Democratic Socialist is elected. If that happens and the policy is legally implemented, those immigrants would be granted the legal right to vote. Participating under a new, lawful system is not 'stealing' an election, it is voting legally. Is that your position?

Exactly, they cannot vote and thus are not stealing elections. Like Trump and Republicunts constantly claim is currently happening. What you posted is some weird policy claim on some website from people currently not in power and likely will never be in power. And even if they did get in power there’s not much likelihood that something like that would come to pass.

Never mind the fact that just because someone has some type of campaign promise or agenda on a website, doesn’t make it reality. After all, Trump said he’d end the war in Ukraine on day one, lower inflation, bring back manufacturing, no new wars, etc.

Actually, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill recently announced that thousands of non-citizens were mistakenly registered to vote due to a state software glitch, and nearly 400 of them cast ballots. This proves that vulnerabilities do exist under current systems. Consequently, individuals who vote in violation of current laws should face criminal charges, voter rolls must be updated to remove ineligible names, and implementing preventive legislation is a logical next step to address these concerns at the source.

I'm glad we agree. That's exactly why voting against democratic socialists is necessary to keep them from getting into power and enacting those policies.

To my mind the New Jersey incident is evidence that things are working fine. The systems as they are found it and have corrected it and the amount of voting was small enough that it didn't affect anything.

Do we need national legislation to try and avoid 400 already illegal votes?

Only unfortunate part about all this is the timing means some will latch on to it.

You’re describing a software glitch that happened in NJ and resulted in 400 votes between 2023 and 2024. It was immediately fixed when discovered. You’re trying to make this out as some sort of smoking gun for the GOPs never ending tantrum over 2020, but this was years after 2020, in one state, and resulted in 400 votes. You don’t even know the breakdown of said votes. For all you know, 385 of the 400 votes were for a republican. Furthermore this entire situation just highlights why it is a good thing states run their own elections.

So again… non citizens aren’t allowed to vote in federal elections, they aren’t, and the 2020 election was valid.

400 votes that were caught and tossed out. The system worked. In a state with 7,000,000 registered voters, 400 votes are statistically insigificant. They got tossed anyway, because that's what the system does.

There is no preventative legislation needed here. Your "concerns" do not override my rights.

Trump started talking literal nonsense and aides had to rush reporters out of the room.

Sundowning?
Not enough naps?
Ministroke?
Is the end of Trump sooner than we all think?
