Platner’s cooked, and Susan Collins, who isn’t much younger than McConnell, is guaranteed another six years of pretending to be very concerned.

We do have a bit of a long shot chance in Alaska, of all places. Mary Peltola is polling strongly against Dan Sullivan, and she has won a statewide election not long ago, for Alaska’s at-large House Seat. Her plus Cooper (NC) and Brown (OH) would pull Democrats up to a 50/50 split, which means Vance would be the tiebreaker vote.

The regime was already weakening from protests over the past ten years. It may very well have dissolved on its own without outside interference. Now that progress is being set back.

That war was (or might still be) the most incompetent one I've seen so far, and that includes the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Even I could have told that the war is a huge gamble, and if the gamble fails, it's going to get ugly one way or another. At least the Russian failure can be explained as a systemic failure, where the system was rigged to fail like that (by the great czar, of course - but still systemic), but the Iran war seems like such a personal failure.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), one of Trump’s most loyal defenders in Congress; died at 71 years of age.

Of all the old politicians on their last leg, that's not one I was expecting in the near future. Good riddance all the same. 

Russia recently issued an arrest warrent for Lindsey Graham, and there are people wondering if Russia had something to do with it.  Hopefully, there will be an autopsy.
