Instead of toppling the Islamist regime, the Iran war put the Iranian regime back on the firmest footing it has been on since the revolutionary fervor of the 1980s.
The regime was already weakening from protests over the past ten years. It may very well have dissolved on its own without outside interference. Now that progress is being set back.
