My personal favourites are Fast Fusion its high speed arcadey thrills, Dusk for brilliantly recapturing the fun of 90s shooters, and Vampire Survivors for being pure dopamine.

Where do I even begin?

Well, I'd say my two favorites are a pair of nostalgic romances actually: Butterfly Soup, which is really the best yuri game I've ever played, would top the list, followed by Gone Home because it's just been my default comfort game when life gets especially stressful for a long time. Other top-ranking choices include...

-Perfect Tides (my favorite choose-your-own-adventure)
-Undertale (my favorite RPG)
-Freedom Planet 2 (the best "Sonic" game ever, IMO)
-Sea of Stars
-Misericorde (both volumes)
-Butterfly Soup 2
-Celeste
-Portal 2
-Crypt of the NecroDancer
-1000xRESIST
-Spiritfarer
-Split Fiction
-It Takes Two
-Kentucky Route Zero
-Both Hollow Knight games (probably the best Metroidvanias ever made)
-What Remains of Edith Finch
-Hades
-Laika: Aged Through Blood

...and I think I'll stop there so it doesn't get too unwieldy. Though it's incomplete as yet, Deltarune is also in the running, I feel obliged to add.

I've been addicted to Deep Rock Galactic Survivor since the 1.0 release last week. I've played several bullet heaven games and find them quite addicting.

An indie game that I throughly enjoyed but that definitely doesn’t get the love it deserves is called Autonauts.

It was developed by Denki and published by Curve Digital and it’s a cross between a farm sim and a programming 101 class.

You basically have the ability to perform all the actions in the world like tree cutting, crafting, cooking, building, etc as yourself, but automating these activities makes it much faster.

That’s where your bots come in. Only they have to be programmed (by following your actions) to know what to do.

The game is certainly a little odd at first, but once you get the hang of programming your first couple of bots you’ll soon realize how intuitive it actually is. The programming language actually gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to how your bots perform their tasks and you can also upgrade your bots or create more advanced bots to do even more work.

There is a lot of game here (in fact, I’ve never actually completed all the steps) and no matter how far you get into the game there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had. There’s also a little confusion and a learning curve to the whole thing, but if you like problem solving it’s a whole lot of fun.

If we define indie as "not backed by a big publisher" then Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice would be my #1 pick, incredibly powerful game that looked better than a lot of AAA efforts

I just looked up the developer and it says they are a 1st party developer for XBox. Were they independent at the time of this release?
