I wonder if I can sell mine for a profit at this rate.
Sorry to say it like this, but, you need to me extremely dumb to think that price increase is because of Trump.
Price is up by 150e from its release price, that is 30% increase.
Sony and MS are now testing waters about next gen price and what they can get away.
I am done supporting Nintendo and Switch 2 will be the only Nintendo console, i dont own, i was done with MS after gen 8, now lets see what will Sony do but i highly doubt it will be affordable.
Switching to PC in 2020 was best decision.
I do own ps5 and S1 but i used them maybe 3 months in last 4 years, mostly Switch.

Apparently you don't understand how tariffs work.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Look at how the exchange rate is going. Dollar is losing against Euro, Yen and others for a while now. Dollar is low. Products produced outside US get more expensive for US consumer.
Series X is $150 more expensive than it was April this year... this is insane.

It's not just one or two game consoles ... it's basically all of them. Lets just call this bullshit what it actually is (and always was) ... it's a Trump Tax on consumers. It's a sales tax on top of inflation. Nintendo Amiibos too are $10 more in the US then other countries versus how it used to be in the past where there was a roughly $1=1 Euro equivalent. Switch 2 price increase seems inevitable or Nintendo will just force people to pay it in other ways (higher software prices, higher Amiibo prices as mentioned above, higher accessory costs, etc.). |
PS5 went up $50, Series X went up $150.
The fucker is the reason for that, yes it is, but it went up 3x what the PS5 did... Xbox was abandoned by the mass market so it is abandoning it as well.

Series S and X are both up by a third. $300 to $400 and $500 to $650. Tariffs I believe are 30% for China.
Smartphones and computer parts are exempt from the tariffs, but video game consoles are not exempt.
Sony and Nintendo were able to shift where the consoles are manufactured to countries with a lower tariff. Microsoft could have done the same, but I guess they don't care enough to do so.
