This thread is filth. People's opinions don't deserve death, you can say people's actions deserve death if they hurt others but my God, people who say they are the most moral say is most often have the least good in them, shown time and again. I bet you could graph heartlessness with expression of virtuousness over time.

If you think this is filth you should definitely do not go into reddit right now. I am finding unbelievable the things I am reading. Unbelievable. I have been reading about this culture war thing for a very long time and for the first time I am feeling sad by people's reactions. It is like staring at the abyss and the abyss is staring back at me.

It seems to me there is absolutely no turning back from the divide between sides right now. It is much worse than I thought.

I seen the compilations of Twitter. It is sickening. Definitely much worse than I thought too, I'm not on either side but I didn't realise people would celebrate assassination in this insane way, meming it and after seeing that video... ugh, it's mind-boggling. I litterally can not get my head around it.

He was a grifter IMO, purposefully trying to get attention/publicity for punching down on certain groups for the purpose of enriching himself.

The problem is he lives in a country where it's fairly easy for anyone to obtain a fire arm, and even more ironically he cheered on that very gun culture and said having the right to easily obtain guns was worth it, even if it meant people dying. He's become part of that statistic.

Welp. Hope the grift was worth it, sometimes you piss off the wrong person and in America where gun violence is fairly commonplace and ... it only takes a few seconds for that to be the result.

I just said this same exact thing to a friend a few minutes ago. i believe this full heartedly. to expand on this sentiment, i honestly think that this country might not make it because of this. not because of this incident specifically, it is just another domino.

You can thank people like Charlie Kirk for your country not making it. The far-right, with active help from the big techs, have spread their bigotry believes for 15+ years on the internet, radicalizing people into dehumanize any group that doesn't fit in their idea of "ideal human being". Add the american gLorIouS FrEe SpeEch allowing groups like KKK and nazis to exist and you have a time-bomb society. Of course some people won't watch all of this still. People being dehumanized will radicalize in response to that

Speaking out is an action. In fact, according to linguistics like Vendler, "to speak" is considered an Action/Activity Verb, differently from "to be", "to own", "to belong", "to consist", "to have", which are Stative Verbs

The only comfort I can offer is to say the internet is not the real world. Far from it.

Never have truer words been spoken.  Twitter is a hell hole.  I hate it when people use it as source and 'proof'.  There are a billion users on Twitter but if a small group of 50 people make comments people don't like, those extreme minority get blown out of proportion and are somehow supposed to represent the views of the billion others. The logic is stupid.

@Tober Thanks, it is. I heard someone here in Ireland today in real life saying it wasn't right and it was sobering but still, 1% of loud people beat 90% of silent people. As exactly to your point Cosmic...at least, I think that's what you're saying...?

Aways fun watching people show their true colors.

This is why people need to be able to speak their minds, and why we should let them for the most part (besides incitement, etc).

-Silence is violence, becomes a thing when power is used to silence someone else, then they resort to physical violence instead.

-It's better to let someone speak and find out they're a monster, instead of being fooled into thinking they're a saint by an image.

I saw few his videos to just see what you talking about and i didnt found a single thing that he said that i didnt heard before, from both left and right. You just projecting him as "bigot" and "fascist" because you dont agree with him.

Just come out and say, i am on the left side and i am great human being, you people on the right are evil bigots, at least then you will be sincere.

And before saying anything, i am not from US, i have been there for some time and i saw a lot of thing from all kind of people to never want to even come close to US ever again. So i am not republican or democrat.

in all honesty, many of the things he says are not out of the ordinary for what the average conservative american thinks. many of his views are not that shocking. and when it comes to conservative political pundits, he can even be described as "milk toast." in that sense, if theyre happy he is dead, then it can stand to reason that theyd be happy to see half of america dead, which has been disconcerting to many who have connected these dots. im not necessarily saying thats the case, but you can see the logic there and after what ive seen, i  am more and more starting to believe it myself. scary stuff.

Right wing commentator Matt Forney wants this to be "the American Reichstag fire", followed by a complete crackdown on the left like the German version in the 30s.
