Forums - Website Topics - Influx of alt/bot accounts

In the last few weeks we're seeing an influx of several obvious alt accounts following a similar template, all with a colour + thing name convention, (e.g. "redyoshi") and all of which immediately begin low key trolling, antagonizing, and generally just poisoning discussion.

If I had to guess I'd say they're probably all the same person making numerous sock puppet accounts, probably the same guy previously known as zeldaring/quickrick/ninjablade who has been making numerous alts to troll the site since at least 2012.

It is getting to be an ongoing problem.

I’m seconding this. They’re trolling, even in the off topic forums. My gut tells me an authentic new user isn’t coming here to talk about off topic things.

Maybe a zero tolerance policy for this sort of behaviour?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Authentic new user? Is that a thing?

50% chance it's a bot nowadays!

Not that the mods shouldn't do their part, but also stop feeding the fucking trolls.

I haven't noticed them, but I don't click on most posts only the ones that interest me.

This thread feels an awful lot like something RolStoppable would create. Trying to get me banned for trolling (but this time, it’s because my name is FireBush).

To be serious for a moment: IDK I haven’t been engaging nor active on the forums for a while. Can’t say I’ve noticed anything unusual.

That and who the hell is joining this site in 2025? It’s been on a steady decline for like 15 years. I joined in 2012 after lurking for a couple years and it was already past its heyday then.

This happens on many websites.

It's bots. The battlefield bots on YouTube have gone crazy. Can't even tell of they are meat bots or digital but they are more numerous than any campaign I've seen before which suggests digital AI usage. The bots are coning and they will soon out number us ten to one.
