Forums - General - Ozzy Osbourne - The Godfather of Metal - Passes Away at 76

The single most influential person in metal music, John "Ozzy" Osbourne has, sadly, passed away.  Known as the lead singer of the quintessential band Black Sabbath as well as his incredibly successful solo career, the "Prince of Darkness" has moved on to the next realm.  His lasting influence on music as a singer and songwriter will be remembered forever.

Oh man, so many fond memories. From his aforementioned Goldmember cameo (“boobs”) to hearing Bark at the Moon in GTA Vice City. I even remember doing a report on him in my 8th grade music class. R.I.P. legend.

Haven't managed to get into his music, even though I enjoy a lot of metal and some of my favourite artists were heavily inspired by him. I do however fondly remember watching The Osbournes TV show when I was a teenager. It (and he) was hilarious and he was very likable. Sharon must be absolutely devastated; she seemed truly devoted to him. For him to have lived another 20+ years since is remarkable given the condition he was in even back then.

RIP

Forever the real Iron Man.

He made awesome music, Paranoid still being one of my personal favorite songs, and inspired countless more awesome music to be made. He and his family made the only reality-TV show that was worth watching.

Thanks ozzy for the tv show, and the moments in brutal legend. Rip

Yes. Although Black Sabbath as a whole were the most influential, not just Ozzy. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward were just as important as Ozzy.

Ozzy contributed to some of the greatest albums ever released. Those first six Sabbath albums in particular are stunning, as well as a lot of his early solo stuff (I'll also always vouch for Down to Earth, which came out in 2001). May The Ozzman rest in peace.

I tried to make some AI pics to honor ozzy, and first wanted to show him peeing on the alamo but it wouldn't let me. So i made a few of him eating the head of a bat, disgusting and funny .  I hope that we can see the alamo part in a coming bio film on ozzy, that would be hilarious for all Texans.

Edit:  This is the best i could do as far as the peeing incident goes, because the program i'm using doesn't like too much innapropriate business going on..... RIP ozzy, was sad all day yesterday because of this.

I have a feeling this was assisted dying, euthanasia or whatever. If yes, then this is the most rock n roll goodbye ever, guy said goodbye to fans in one of the most memorable concerts ever (I wish I could have gotten tickets) was able to sing a few songs, back in his home town. Then just went away. Back form the beginning was somehow a funeral. Thats very black sabbath and heavy metal.
