Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 26, 2025 (Jun 23 - Jun 29)

What a good news to see NSW2 performing higher than last week and how the real does a Tamagotchi game sells so many copies in Japan ? Is this the crowd that bought into Hello Kitty Island all over again ?

Animal Crossing New Horizons is the highest selling physical game of all time in Japan, there's a huge audience for these kind of "cosy" games there.

NSW2 weekly numbers so far are constantly double, almost triple, what NSW1's weekly numbers were when THAT system launched in 2017.
Nintendo clearly came prepared this go round!

Current the percentaged increase or decrease of the sales of Switch 2 align with Switch 1. If this trend continues, we should see a heavy decrease of Switch 2 sales of more than -50% next week.

Damn the GBA had an insane launch in Japan. I dunno whether that or the 3DS catching up in the 2nd half is more impressive.

Yeah people often don't realize how much of a beast the GBA was because it's time as Nintendo's flagship handheld was cut short after less than 5 years, resulting in a final tally somewhat lower than the Gameboy. During that relatively short span though it was one of the fastest selling systems ever at the time.
