Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo announced a Donkey Kong Bananza Direct for June 18th

So after watching the direct video from beginning to end - I'm likely gonna end up buying DK Bananza this year, maybe day 1.

Depends on when I finish whatever I am mainly playing right now first - (Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition on PS5 or Mario Kart World on Switch 2).

This year's so damn good with all sorts of releases I am interested in

-Mario Kart World
-Donkey Kong Bananza
-Final Fantasy Tactics Ivalice Chronicles

Cant wait to see what else gets announced this year.

I wanna finish Echoes of Wisdom before I get Donkey Kong Bananza.

As much as I love the DKC games, I must say I am excited as hell to see DK come home to Nintendo EPD and to see the franchise make a fresh comeback.

Turning over a new leaf takes nothing away from the games we already have, and sometimes a reinvention is exactly what's needed for a series to explode like never before.

It's a mixed bag. One day it gives you Donkey Kong Bananza or Breath of The Wild, next day it gives you Star Fox Zero.

I wouldn't really call Starfox Zero a reinvention, if anything in a lot of ways it was too much of a retread of Starfox SNES/64, being essentially a remake with gimmicky controls.

I would say most of Nintendo's reinventions have been for the better; Metroid Prime, BOTW, Mario 64, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Yoshi's Island...

A new general Direct can't come soon enough for us to know more about that future.

Ugh, I know it's too much to ask right now considering their last games are semi-recent, but I just can't wait to see what Monolith Soft is cooking currently considering it's a new project helmed by Takahashi in the Director role. Hopefully, he gets to go ham with his concepts and worlds once again.

I'd take anything from Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, DK, Kirby, or Fire Emblem lol

Anyone besides me see parallels between Donkey Kong Bananza and Banjo-Kazooie?

More parallels between Donkey Kong Bananza and Super Mario Odyssey.

There's similarities like BK being made by Rareware and DK for a good chunk of time was also made by Rareware among other things such as being a platformer featuring animals.

I concur, although, I hope if it's not the remake of FE4, that we get a new one made by Koei Tecmo again.

In-game purchases? What could they mean? Is it just to do with NSO?

The article mentions that Super Mario Bros. Wonder also comes with the same label and the only thing that game has is the prompt of a question to subscribe to NSO when you select the online multiplayer option and don't have a subscription yet. This direct link for an NSO purchase from within the game is what constitutes an in-game purchase.

The other reason for the label 'in-game purchase' in a Nintendo game is that a given game features an expansion pass that can be purchased by selecting an option in the game itself that links you directly to the corresponding eShop page.

Either way, there's no reason to worry based on Nintendo's track record.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
