Forums - Nintendo - Will we get Nintendo Selects for the Switch 1?

At first, I was assuming this was all but certain, as the Selects have always moved a ton of units after Nintendo's system refreshes. But now, with the Switch 2's upgrades to the Switch 1, I don't know whether they'll use the Selects for people to buy the Switch 2 upgrades, or if they won't release the Selects to try to sell the already upgraded Switch 2 versions for more money. What do you think? It would be a shame if they wouldn't release a Selects lineup, I've missed quite a lot of big Nintendo titles, and I really wish to catch up.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Doubt it.

Vouchers are the closest we'll get to it aside from the occasional sales discounts during holidays.

Prior to the global economic uncertainty right now and $80 for Mario Kart World I would've said yes.
Now, there's probably only about a 10 percent chance of it happening, even years into Switch 2's life as it gets closer to Switch getting discontinued.
And if it does happen, expect the games to be $30-$40. I only see $20 maybe happening for something that was $50 or under to begin with.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Whether it's good or bad aside, I believe Nintendo has successfully demonstrated that not reducing prices leads to healthier sales.

The downside is you won't get older games for cheap. The upside is you can buy your game at any time and not worried it's going to drop by 30-80% in two months.

That era is dead. Best you get are online sales.

I feel like physical Switch games, especially Game Card only (no case) are the best deal we can hope for at this point.

I've seen listings of $60 first-party games priced at $30-$45 because they're used and have no case.

And why is this a good thing exactly?

Yes. It's called Nintendo Online and it's cheaper and has way more value than offerings from other "game" companies.

You get to play those timeless games that still match or surpass current gen offerings but with amazing new features for free/ridiculously low price. You might have to wait 20 years for DS and Wii selects if you're too spoilt to buy used + an upgrade pack but Switch selects will be there eventually.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Time + 2nd hand hardware = "Selects"
Real Nintendo fans want upgrades not discounts.

Is this some form of satire? (sorry, you can never be sure in the internet)
