Forums - Sony - Sony about to Increase Console and Accessory Pricing?

Will pricing remain the same?

Yes, Sony loves their fans 6 31.58%

No, Sony is just as greedy 13 68.42%

Total:19

The Days of Play sale is about to end tomorrow with pricing likely to return where it was presale.  But will it also incur the same price hikes, that started with Nintendo and was shortly followed by Xbox, in the immediate future?

Would be verry smart not to do so,but sony has been stupid and greedy this past years so yea.

I don't think they will, not this year anyway. They already had it increased in Europe a few times over but I think they will eat the cost to keep the good press. The more consoles they sell the better the more money they make. Now the games idk, maybe they'll follow suit and they already have these prices in Europe at 79,99 even though that includes VAT. 🤔 It's so hard to judge after they surprised us with dropping prices while every one else is upping the prices.

They'll do what's best for them right now and gamers will react with the same intention, they just better hope it doesn't hurt their image for the masses like Nintendo just done. I hope with the PS3 fiasco they have a reminder on the walls in HQ somewhere that says don't be greedy.

They will in time for GTAVI. I have no doubt about that. Sony’s likely just waiting for tempers to cool down. (Plus, they probably don’t mind the short-term loss of not raising prices in exchange for the bad press Nintendo is receiving amidst the launch of their new system…though that’s just my theory.)

They need to rise prices, video games are still the cheapest form of entertainment and if adjusted for inflation cheaper than ever.

People complaining clearly been stuck on the couch too long playing too many video games as they haven't bettered their financial situation in the last 10-20 years.

Not only should they not raise them, they should hire Kevin Butler for another round and have him announce that they aren't "For the Gamers". This is probably the lowest hanging fruit since the Xbox One launch debacle. If they don't capitalize on it, they're not very bright. It's just hanging there, begging to be picked lol.

why do you argue on behalf of corporations looking to suck every penny out of the working class? You do know that when prices go up, that hurts your wallet as well, yes? I don’t think you’d be all too happy if I started taking an extra $20 out of your wallet every time you purchased a Nintendo game.

I might be unbearably naive, but I think Sony is going to keep things around the same price.
It would be good business and pro-consumer to keep things steady given Xbox and Nintendo right now.

I believe China tariffs are paused at 30% for now? If they go up to the 100% range again then we can talk about them increasing prices.

Because inflation is real and everything has gone up and corporations still need to pay developers money.

I already spent 20 bux more on Nintendo games and happy to do so as mu wages have doubled since the last Nintendo console. At end of day people still need to work and make a living.
