SOMA and Journey are not walking sims, there's plenty of gameplay in them besides walking, as much as I hate saying that about Journey because I think it is the single most overrated little game of all time :D

Perhaps that's why I like SOMA so much then but still.... the gameplay amounts to place objects in certain places, interacting with terminals and NPCs and avoiding being detected. You could call it an adventure game but it lacks many aspects of one. The closest genre is walking sims, you could probably call it a hybrid and add puzzle game to the mix. For example Still Wakes the deep has a mechanic of throwing things to distract monsters but is this gameplay enough to take it out of the Walking sim and label it as a first person throwing game. Nah.

Nobody wants to die also has gameplay elements and even dialogue choices but it's definetly a walking sim. You'll see this the second time you playthrough when you realise it's all an on rails facade and the only active gameplay element is one choice at the end.

I'd also consider The Witness a hybrid walking sim, puzzle game.

Around the Network

SOMA is survival horror. The Witness is autism simulator (probably will get banned for that :D)

My Etsy store

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Probably, since Witness is puzzle solving adventure, and ASD is a real thing, and not a slur.

Best:

It's a tight race between The Stanley Parable (haven't played Ultra Deluxe yet) and What Remains of Edith Finch.  The former is basically the closest gaming has come to answering "what if Charlie Kaufman made a game?"  I know I'm tooting my own horn here, but I reviewed the latter already.

Worst:

Oh, man.  There've been some doozies in this sub-genre.  It's a close race between Sagebrush, NORTH, and 4PM.

(EDIT: Might as well add the rest that I've reviewed too. lol)
