Not really lol. Even as a primary PC gamer, I usually turn it off. The payoff just isn’t enough. It’s not something you notice in moment to moment gameplay, and with how taxing it is on performance, it’s just not worth it. Sure there’s been some great uses of the technology before, but they’re few and far between.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

As a consumer? It depends on the implementation. But I do enjoy the path-tracing modes of older games. I think they add value. "Ray-tracing" in newer games isn't the most noticeable effect, but that is mostly because its scope is often limited to things that were already pretty decently baked from the 8th generation forward.
From a development perspective, as somebody who has tinkered with UE5 (and other engines) to build out some large (16 x 120 sq.km) 3D high-density voxel landscapes from heightmaps, but who isn't a game artist, I very much like having the options of essentially automatic lighting systems (whether hybrid systems like lumen, or more "pure" ray-tracing.) Being able to have a decent lighting system right away is nice for these sort of experiments that likely will never amount to anything more than getting knowledge and seeing something beautiful.
It is best to think of ray-tracing as a set of technologies each having different qualities. It isn't only one thing.
The biggest gains, currently, are probably from a development perspective though.

It definitely makes a difference and games look absolutely brilliant when it's implemented tastefully.
Is it a requirement? No. I am happy playing games that are 30 years old if the gameplay is good enough.

It's a nice extra layer of glazing, but not mandatory for me, even with a very powerful rig. On average, the cost of performance doesn't match the increase in visual fidelity. Some games looks amazing with RT on, while others barely change at all, it's a mixed bag. For all the hype behind it, RT hasn't done all that much for mainstream gaming since it was first touted. Titles like Indiana Jones show what's possible with it though, Cyberpunk 2077 also has really impressive RT. CP 2077 is the only game where I felt I couldn't play with RT off due to its impact on the overall image and immersion.

Smellovision, every new console game comes with a bunch of scratch and sniff cards so when your wading through the typical rpg sewer a prompt appears telling you to scratch and sniff the sewer background smell card.

I don't even notice it until I see a video of DF or something pointing it out, lol.
So not worth the effort for me.

I don't even quite know what RT means exactly or how to recognize it visually, but games that lean into it do look very good, so I guess I like it.
GTA 6 is very RT based and it looks pretty amazing, so..
