Super Mario Galaxy was the overwhelming winner in the poll.  Halo 3 and Portal were more or less tied for second place.  (I voted for Portal.)

This year's poll pretty closely reflected what sales were doing in 2007 (although not every poll went like this).  The Wii was on fire, and anyone not interested in the Wii were playing XBox360 or PC games like Halo 3 and Portal.  PS3 still needed a few years to really get going.

2007 is one of the most overrated years in gaming. TWEWY was good, though. Odin Sphere had issues, but the remake fixed them. MP3 was good. I never cared for Galaxy. ROgue Galaxy Was cool. Hotel Dusk is neat. VF5 is great. Tho it technically came out in 2005. Yeah Armored Core 4 came out but a year later the best AC game ever in AC4A. AC4 isn't worth going back to. Folklore is underrated and overlooked tho. Same with Zak and Wiki.

All the big stuff in 2007 is some of the most overrated games ever. 2007 has some solid, smaller games like any year. VF5. TWEWY. MP3 is the 3 best games of that year. Overall tho. *shrug* 2007 isn't that special. 2006 was better.

Yeah, Portal was my pick as well, one of those rare years where my favourite of the year and what I think was GOTY aligned.

The lag and FPS drops in Odin Sphere on PS4 got fixed? That was my main complaint on the PS2 version - the part where it happened that I remembered the most was when you fought the boss in the underworld.

As a result of 2007 being such a strong year, there were a number of smaller games I thought were quite good that got lost amidst all the big hyped blockbusters, stuff like Stranglehold, Ace Combat 6, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Zack & Wiki, etc.

In a less crowded year, I feel like they might have gotten the recognition they deserved, but in such a packed year they were sadly overlooked.

Oh shtop, so much from that year was not only fresh but much of it went on to shape the direction of the biggest gaming devs and publishers, even Sony's first part method started with Uncharted in 2007. The game that started to save them from the ps3's failure. Sure, a lot of the stuff the stemmed from games like COD4 is negative but it had such a massive impact on the industry. And before you say it, yes, despite the direction of the games future titles CoD4 was fresh and a really great game in 2007. The worst thing you can say about 2007 is it was only the start for some games and it was their sequels that really took off but without those games getting people in and being so fresh their wouldn't be sequels, no Uncharted 2, MW2 or AC2. Then you have...

Bioshock. Immersive sim hitting it big. 

Assassin's Creed. Not a great game but really fresh and much like the rest the bedding for thr next title. 

Halo 3. The last of the really excellent Halo titles.

A slew of forgotten games no body played but they were so great like Heavenly Sword, The Darkness, Clive bakers Jericho. Lost Oddessy. Stranglehold. Etc. They unfortunately got overshadowed and were scored poorly by comparison. 

The final entry in the Half Life 2 series with Episode 2. Left on a cliff hanger and never to be seen again. 

Can it run Crisis? I bet you didn't play that game in 2007. :)

Not that anyone noticed but the started of The Witcher series, If I had known I'd have looked past the jank on this. 

Mass effect... come on. Like.

... and somehow this year was over rated. We have not had such an influential year like that since. So many of those games defined the future of their publishers, for better or worse in some cases for you or me but great for millions of others. 

Oh and not to forget GoW war 2, left on the ps2 for the people who couldn't yet upgrade so people on yhe outgoing console got great exclusive stuff too. 

Super Mario Galaxy for me. Easily a top 5 game all-time for me. Best platformer I have ever played. The best way I can describe it is pure joy distilled into game form.
