I suppose. It's not exactly a game with such severe image quality hits as is considering that AC Shadows showed us that there shouldn't be a problem with hardware and CO E33 showed us that UE5 and engines aren't the problem.

Still they would really wanna clean up that image for handheld mode and take the hits somewhere else, even if it marred in ailising and low res that trick where everything is arranged into little rectangular patterns won't work when you're right up close to the screen.

One of the cornerstones of Switch 2's hardware is DLSS, which is designed to reconstruct a decent image from very low resolutions, so that should help a lot.

It will take a visual hit for sure compared to the PS5 version, but a decent portable rendition should be possible.

If Cyberpunk can exist in a decent form on Switch 2, I don't see why FFVII can't.

Also I feel sorry for people who refuse to play at 30fps. 2 games which people moaned about FFVII Rebirth and Star Wars Jedi Survivor are both clearly meant to be played in quality mode lol

Amen, some of the best games ever made are 30fps and I can't imagine limiting the games I can enjoy so arbitrarily.

Came upon my old 21-inch 720p TV that still has RCA inputs. I've had a hankering for the story modes of GoldenEye and Perfect Dark on the N64 lately. Those games are practically slide shows compared to modern gaming, but I can still play them to this day.

Addendum to #1: Squeenix strikes again with the idiotic naming scheme of their biggest titles. Calling it FFVII Remake? Cool, no problem. It may be a completely different gameplay genre with a copious amount of new elements added to the story, but you still know what it is. Calling the next one in the sequel Rebirth? Sounds too much like Remake, too easy to forget that it's a different game instead of being the same thing. I still have to stop and remember which one came first because they sound so interchangeable. And that was before I realized that they weren't the same thing. And what is an "Intergrade"? Is it a sequel to Remake that I need to play after Remake or Rebirth?

I am aware that these questions can be answered after spending half a minute on Google, but a lot of people aren't going to spend half a minute on Google. All SE had to do was name them FFVII Part I: Remake and Part 2: Rebirth or something.

I would think Remake would be easy to tell that its the first game....wouldnt make sense for Rebirth to come first and then "Remake" lol

How does it make any more sense for "Remake" to come first and then "Rebirth"? If you really make me stop and think about it (like now), "Rebirth" sounds like it would be the first game... what comes before birth? "Re-fertilization"? You can remake any game in a series or saga, but would "birth" not imply the very start of it? What will the final part of the trilogy be called, "Reborn"? I'm not even joking.

For years people wanted a "Remake" of this classic especially after they made that PS3 teaser of a imagined look of a FFVII Remake.

So of course "Remake" would be the best title since thats basically what people would consider it to be and wanted, its not a remaster like Final Fantasy VIII Remaster or a 1:1 port like OG FFVII on Steam.

Rebirth being used for the first game doesnt make sense because the definition of rebirth is reincarnation or second coming.

Advent is the same meaning as Rebirth which is why Advent Children - the sequel to OG FFVII was named like it because

Spoiler!
it was the second coming of Sephiroth.

tl;dr Rebirth =/= birth

Final title should be Reunion but its likely gonna be something else, maybe reincarnation or reimagine to match the crazy conclusion the third game is going to have.

Edit: Could be resurrection too

It's great news and I would have been really excited to see it finally on Nintendo again but I've switched to PC for 3rd party games now.. A bit too late, unfortunately

There's nothing logical about the VII Remake series naming convention. Remake implies something has been remade in its entirety. Rebirth implies something has been reborn. Neither title imply chronology to one another and the 3rd game will struggle to break 2m on PS5 with an equally convoluted naming convention :D

Remake, Rebirth, Return. Book it.

Remake, Rebirth, Relocated (because they will port to other platforms).

Sounds like you havent played any of the games or if you did, probably skipped cutscenes lol.

I dont care about the sales of the game.

Likely the final title will be "Reborn" especially since they called the
