The premium Series X Galaxy Black model will now retail for $729.99, up from $599.99 previously – a 22% hike. Additionally, certain new games from Microsoft-owned studios will be priced at $79.99, up 14% from the current $69.99.

In Europe, the Series S will rise from €299.99 to €349.99, a 17% increase. In Australia, the Series S will start at $549 and Series X at $849."

Inflation is all that needs to be said. 

Sony will definitely follow suit. They've been jacking up the price all generation long lol. It's only a matter of time before they bump it to $80. Best case is they hold out for a year.

PS5 is next.
Wouldn't surprise me if they jack it up to around $500 for the Digital Edition, $600 for the base model, possibly like $750 for the Pro.

I think Sony will follow, but as for when and if it'll be as big a price rise I don't know.

Jacking the price up from $499 to $599 in one go is a big move.

OFC the $599 Series X now gives Sony an easy opportunity to do exactly the same $100 increase if they want.

Switch 2 will probably also increase in price within the next few years. The time of price cuts is gone.

It's a shame that they increase prices everywhere so the whole world is subsidizing trumps stupid tariffs. Prices should have gone way higher in the US and stayed the same in the rest of the world. But I get that Microsoft is a company and especially dependent from the US market, so from an economical perspective, it makes sense. But from a consumer perspective, it feels unfair.

Suddenly the Switch 2 seem a bargain for what you get :)
