Both. Ill pay 80 or more for a game I really want, but Im not happy about it. Cut some content and make it 50 bucks.

But then they just add a $30 dlc and it's still $80. Then they realize that they can just cut even more content to resell as dlc. Then having a full launch  version of MKW costs $300. And even worse it's not complete on cart anymore. Not even close.

I rarely buy DLC anyway. If they cut too much I wont buy it at all.

Yeah I don't buy games when they have ridiculously cut content. But I want to be able to buy games. So I want those games to be complete on cart or disc at launch day. Nintendo does exactly that with their games. This makes Nintendo one of the most pro-consumer companies, despite their other shortcomings.

Below is a list of "physical" games I could find on pre-order in Australia from a physical walk in shop.

I made the list to hopefully help others who are physical game collectors like me and shun the poor practices of some developers cutting costs to release sub standard physical games

  • Donkey Kong Bananza : 10 GB
  • Legend Of Zelda - Tears Of The Kingdom : 19.9 GB

Please feel free to add anything I missed and I will update the OP post.

So far there is 6 games I won't be buying, and perhaps go a step further and not even support those developers on any platform.

NOTE: Download size for GAME-KEY-CARD versions are based on what was written on the GAME-KEY-CARD AUSTRALIA cover at the time of adding it to the list. The full digital only version size may differ between this and between regions.

Why did you put "physical" in scare quotes? This implies the opposite meaning - no physical games.
Also, Game-Key Card contain no game data on the card, only the license to download. There are no Game-Key Card with plenty and even dozen of GB on them.

Game-Key Cards are not physical games, so they shouldn't be on this list. The same with Code-in-the -box games.

Physical games only mean those cartridges that have the entire game on them, meaning that are not depended on download to run.

OP wrongly understood the subject.

I won't be picking up any Game-Key Cards, but I also won't be boycotting Sega, Capcom, and others. Honestly, that would punish me more than it would them.

I will, however, "reward" studios like CD Projekt Red for going the extra mile. In fact, I already pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition.

I mean Tetrix is 4GB, what is the bloody excuse there.

It may hurt me missing their games but they will not get a cent out of me for stupidity.

What's the excuse? Are you forgetting in a capitalistic society, specifically a savage-capitalistic society we are live in? The reason is money. Companies and corporation dont want to spend an extra cent if there's a cheaper alternative, let alone lose that cent. Nintendo only offers them the 64GB cards while those game are smaller or even much smaller, so of course they dont want to pay for those cards. That's one bad thing on Nintendo side, the other is that Nintendo also offers the the Game-Key Card option. So even with various smaller size(GB) cards, those publishers wont choose them since they have the Game-Key Card option.

Switch 2 will seriously push the games towards digital only gaming.

You cant thank Nintendo for that.

Gamecardkey isnot physical.
Just a plastic box with a code

It seems many gamers have forgotten what a physical game is/should be/whas.

You are on the money. I am taking the piss out of the term physical as third parties have forgotten what physical means, hence the quotes.

They release a physical box in store that takes up space with a let down inside, so they should be on the list so people know they are not getting a full physical game and require download.

GAME-KEY-CARD are physical piece of plastic with a code on it that leads to a major disappointment hence why I call out physical in quotations to mock the stupid idea of it and third parties deceiving collectors.
