What's the excuse? Are you forgetting in a capitalistic society, specifically a savage-capitalistic society we are live in? The reason is money. Companies and corporation dont want to spend an extra cent if there's a cheaper alternative, let alone lose that cent. Nintendo only offers them the 64GB cards while those game are smaller or even much smaller, so of course they dont want to pay for those cards. That's one bad thing on Nintendo side, the other is that Nintendo also offers the the Game-Key Card option. So even with various smaller size(GB) cards, those publishers wont choose them since they have the Game-Key Card option.

Switch 2 will seriously push the games towards digital only gaming.

You cant thank Nintendo for that.
