Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 16,2025 (Apr 14 - Apr 20)

Wow… last week I was talking about when was the last time we saw saw anything at number 30 or above below 1000 units. But I guess it happened this week. Talk about tempting fate.

PS5 numbers are really low now, with those weekly sales it would have had serious problems keeping up even with the Wii U.

I think the successive price hikes have tarnished the Playstation brand in Japan seriously enough that without a re-alignement towards Japanese games their consoles won't do well in Japan anymore in the near future.

According to Famitsu 32 Switch games have sold more than 1million Physical copies .

It’s insane to think that Splatoon stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Pokémon in JP. The franchise hadn’t even begun by this time 10 years ago!

The Japanese gaming market as a whole has been in decline long ago. It is the West that natters and that is where Playstation dominates. Just look at the monthly Western charts. And PS5 will dominate even more once GTA6 hits.

For Playstation, the West is what matters.

For Xbox, America is the only place they're relevant.

For Nintendo, every region matters, because they have a strong presence in all of them.

That isn't really true. Nintendo never had better sales in Japan than they had during the last 8 years. For example it was only during the Switch era that some Nintendo games sold over 10 million copies in Japan alone like they did with Animal Crossing on Switch. You can't have a market in decline if you never sold more in that market now than during previous console generations.

35M+ Switchs sold in the last years making it the best sold system of the entire history and millions of japoneses rushing to get a chance to PRE-ORDER Switch 2 are definitely signs of a dying market

We reap what we sow

I’m guessing golden week is why there’s no charts for today

It's crazy how the Japanese market stopped mattering to some people the moment Sony was no longer dominant there. Can't imagine why that would be...
