Give it more time. Game just keeps getting better, it didn't peak for me until I reached close to the 30 hour mark. It's peaked at my game of the generation, it's only competition is Elden Ring and... God damn, it's more pure unfiltered fun that that game plus it has an Oscar worthy fresh and unique story as well.

It's already the best Final Fantasy game I've played in more than 20 years.  It just keeps getting better and better and I can't wait to see the next story bits.  So good.

I'm glad it's getting all this good attention, too.  I'm not expecting Square to change their development plans or anything, but I hope companies are taking note of how tun based JRPGs can work with high fidelity graphics.

I hope Atlus execs are looking and saying, fuck, we need to actually use our profits and invest some money back into our games now, oh the horror.

I'm not big on anime. So the Persona games just don't do it for me aesthetically, but I also have no interest in the social aspects of those games, and I can't stand the music in em either. I do wanna give the SMT games a try though.

I wanted to try SMT to and then I played Metaphor, supposedly the turn based system is based on SMT and I couldn't be more turned off. It basically wants you to trial and error fights and then find out the exact way they want you to play, no freedom. I got so frustrated towards the ending section and boss I put it on story mode where you res with full on death and spent two hours Chipping away at it instead of dying and figuring out exactly what characters and build they wanted me to use.

The end game loop is a little bit all over the place... litterally, you traverse the map venturing into unmarked areas and once you found most things you start going back and forth between stuff testing if you can beat enemies or bosses and if not go back somewhere else, level and gain Lumina and minmax and then try again. It's extremely fun but after a while feels like you're juggling too many checklists and becomes a bit overwhelming. Not sure I would be doing it if I had not...

Started to completely break the game and I'm not even dissatisfied with it, I was having a really hard time at stage 5 of the endless tower and some areas so I spent the last seven hours experimenting while doing lighter end game stuff and after I came across a windfall of lumina now I'm deleting enemies with one shot in as little as two turns, enemies that should be a challenge, just wiped the tower and only the last stage was where I needed to make more than 4 of 5 turns and one or two bosses I had to fight in a different manner.

Alas, one of the end game bosses in the overworld sucked AP nearly every turn so ended up into a battle of attrition for a bit over an hour not able to use my rotation which is in the tens of millions damage now and to my surprise it was fun, unlike Metaphor which I spent two on the last boss chipping away, the skill based system here was what kept things still as fun as any other fight. I'ma break my rule of guides for this game and find out where the actual final boss is and I'd find it hard to believe it'll survive me.

I'd check this game out if I didn't have a backlog of games to play already, with barely any time to play them.

Started playing. Finished the water map and wow just wow

Looks like turn based combat has a new king in gaming space

Looks like the game hit 145k concurrent players 11 hours ago

Word of mouth is strong, going to cross 2 million sold in no time

It's essentially outselling every single JRPG release since Persona 5 in a couple of months

Curious to see how far it can go

Decided to take a break from Oblivion and start playing this. I'm liking it so far. Very interesting premise for the story. I love the music. And combat feels engaging and fun.

Definitely giving me classic Final Fantasy vibes which is good. Looking forward to playing more.

Not often a game climbs, proves people are returning strongly and also new people are coming in. I suspect we'll hear 2 million not long now, it just takes these weekend sessions and people to go about their week spreading the word and bringing that hype with them, a bit like a virus, hard to say ehat the r0 on this spread is.

It's not exactly grass routes, it had Xbox put it alongside AAA games at showcases along with game pass people to spread the word, it had the Persona/Atlus fans buy in first and approve, Baldurs Gate and FF16 stars doing marketing, Oblibion remaster hype to piggy back off of and have the talk that this is better and had a big review cycle but it feels like it is an underdog story.
