Forums - Nintendo - Switch 2 New Preorder Date (US + Canada)

Looks like we finally have a new preorder date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the US. It will now start on April 24th. Thankfully none of the prices have gone up for the console or launch titles as of right now. Unfortunately, accessories will cost more due to "market conditions" and the article also says other adjustments of pricing may increase in the future.

"Retail pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025. At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch.

However, Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions. Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.

We apologize for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our customers may be experiencing. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025."

Looks like a 10% average increase in the price of accessories, which makes sense.

Looks like most accessories have gone up 5$. The dock has gone up 10$.

So the tariff fear-mongering was a nothing burger? I'm shocked.

When it sells like hotcakes during it's first year and complaints about pricing are lost, like tears, in rain.. I look forward to being shocked again.

nintendo took “RAISE THE PRICE” seriously lol.

Nice, hoping to get a pre-order.

Sucks that the Pro controller price went up.

I'll use my Switch 1 Pro controllers in the mean time.

The accessories must be coming from China.

---

I just hope they don't increase the prices in the other regions to further subsidize the US market.

Nintendo actually has the country of origin listed on their site for the accessories.

The Charging Grip, Carry Cases and AC Adapter are from China, the rest of the accessories are from Vietnam or Cambodia.

The accessories coming from China look like the ones that would have the highest profit margin normally, cheap to make, while the more expensive to make stuff like the Pro Controller, Joy-Cons, Dock come from Vietnam/Cambodia.

The accessory pricing increase will hurt a bit but overall the US market for the Switch 2 is saved for now. Though considering the absolutely insane tariffs are only paused things could go to shit again in just a few months. With how chaotic the US government is with stuff like this there can't be any real certainty over the next few years with things like Switch 2 pricing in the US.
