I stopped playing Resident Evil games when Resident Evil 4 came out. The new direction of the series just wasn't for me. I liked the slower gameplay with a lot of puzzles from the original trilogy. I never really tried to get back into the series. But I guess I could give the remakes a try.

As for RE6: I only heard bad things about that game, but I'm kinda glad that at least someone seems to enjoy it, lol. I can somewhat relate to that. I am a huge fan of FF13 which everyone else on the planet seems to hate with a passion. =D

There are very few better gaming experiences in the last decade than Resident Evil 7 on the PSVR.  RE 2 remake is fantastic, if you want to try and get back into the older school style.

I enjoyed RE5/RE6/RE Rev2.

If it has local co-op experience that's a win for me. Too much fun! (But not so much fun if playing Solo and relying on computer partner)

As a solo player, that's one of the main reasons I enjoyed RE6 more than RE5.

At least I don't have to babysit my CPU partner while they take stupid decisions in combat. Much, much better.

That's great Capcom must've heard the complaints about the CPU in RE5 and improved it in RE6.  I never played them solo so I never experienced playing with the CPU

As the guy who made the unofficial/official (Remember those?) Resident Evil 6 thread here; I loved it.
Leon's campaign was by the book Reaident Evil, minus the puzzles. It also showed off a zombie apocalypse happening vs the previous games where they always start off after the chaos happens. Like playing through the chaos was pretty cool, Racoon City was always after the chaos settles down.
Chris's campaign turned into Resident Evil by the end and it becomes somber once your team dies.
Jake's campaign was an amazing grind house experience, what with the katana, mask welding zombies you kill near the end. It was great over the top anime.
Ada's campaign wasn't actually finished at launch. It was alright.
Ultimately I didn't enjoy it as much as 5, but that's because 5's co-op is just a better experience. I must have replayed it over 10 times with my friend, plus however many times with other people. 6's co-op just isn't as good. Though Resident Evil 6 is pretty massive.

Still greatly love the game.

My story with RE6:
It's a total shit game and I wish I had never played it. It's okay that you like it.

I enjoyed the gameplay. My friend and I enjoyed just using melee attacks to kill off large groups of enemies because you can.
But I don't think it's a good game though. If not for co-op I really dont think I could've finished it, whereas I've completed RE5 both solo and MP and had no issues with either.

Well, I'm glad you had a better time with it than I did at least!

I hated it. To me, it epitomizes all the worst trends in the AAA space at that time, without any of the good qualities.

I found the whole thing a tacky, dumbed down chore, to the point where I gave up after a few hours.

RE4 is my favourite game of all time, so it was painful to see the series fall so far.

I really enjoyed reading your story with Resident Evil 6! It brought back so many memories from when I first played the game. The part where you mentioned RE 6 Leon Kennedy Black Jacket really hit me that jacket became such an iconic look! Your passion for the game really shows, and it made me want to replay it again. Thanks for sharing your experience in such a fun and relatable way!

RE5 felt so much better in Co-Op. It's the only way I want to play the game. Amazing experience.
I have played solo as well, and it just doesn't hit the same. And yes, Sheva's AI is really a low point.

One time I had my back turned towards an area where there are some zombies, because I was shooting the ones in front of me. But Sheva was also standing in front of me, and facing me (so she would be able to see if any approached me from behind).
I figured I'd look at her and see if she starts aiming at someone behind me as an indication for if there's danger behind me.
Azombie walks up and grabs me from behind. 0 reaction from Sheva....

Btw, the developers said that they were experimenting with the moment light transiitions from going into a dark room from a sunny area, and vice versa. Perhaps that's part of why it wasn't set in a completely dark area.

It's good that you enjoyed RE6. I sadly did not.
It had some good moments, and Leon's campaign felt more RE than the others. (The way Chris' started felt like Call of Duty)
Being able to play as Ada again was nice.

One thing I didn't enjoy was that there was no storage box any more, forcing me to discard items frequently.
Perhaps more than I did any all other RE combined.

I did play it co-op as well. And we had some fun moments, like when I accidentally ran over my friend with a snow scooter and dragged his body across a bridge.

Just like you, I thought the RE5 trailer looked amazing.
And it's Resident Evil. I didn't bother with any reviews. "Of course I'll like it". So I bought it Day 1.

Since then I no longer blindly trust Capcom with any new Resident Evil game.
Although I did end up liking every mainline RE game that they released since then. But I no longer expect that I automatically will.
