In addition to talk of a portable Xbox, there's been rumors for a while now that a new PS portable could be in the works.
For those who game on PS platforms, would you be interested in buying such a device, and why/why not?

If I have access to my existing Playstation library (with download codes for my physical collection), yes! As long the price was not insane (Steam Deck and Switch 2 pricing range is fine), having a chance to play my huge library on the go is more than enough to justify buying a portable device
Otherwise, no. I have no intention to build a specific collection for a expensive handheld I will maybe buy 4-5 games for an entire generation. For Nintendo it worked, because both their games and their hardware were cheap, I don't think it would be the case here
I would buy a PS5 Portable Edition if I had the disposable income.

Is it just another portable PC or a actual Sony system with exclusives and carts? If so then yes. PSVita and PSP some of my fave handhelds ever. They were my fave until Switch.

I am not a big Sony gamer, there are only a couple of exclusives I stick to on Sonys platform.
But I would buy one if it met a couple of conditions.
1) High-end hardware.
2) OLED+120hz+8" or larger display.
3) Physical media.

If they release both a hybrid and a home console next gen I may get the hybrid. If the hybrid was like the Series S to the main consoles Series X. So a less powerful console that can be used portable and on TV, and then the high-end TV only option. But pricing wise the less powerful portable wouldn't be much cheaper.
Just like Nintendo I don't expect Sony to ever have two devices with separate libraries ever again.
Really I don't see any reason to release a handheld that can't be docked.
Depends on hardware, price and especially compatibility to my digital PlayStation libraries (PSP, Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5).
But since I can play most PlayStation games on a PC handheld (PC ports of former PS-exclusives + emulation of the rest), a new PlayStation handheld would be probably too little, too late.
i would buy it but its not the question of buying it but whether Sony can sustain the platform, they tried it with Vita but it failed miserably
also, portables like phones have gotten so advanced in the space of processor chips & ram that there is no need for a separate platform. A dual use Platform like Switch has more likely hood of surviving than Dual Platforms with separate Handheld & Consoles like SONY tried with PS4 & VITA
