Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What will Switch 2 big titles for 2025?

We already know two: Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. But they release in June and July. The calendar after that is completely empty. Nintendo certainly has something for the holidays at least.

My bet would be Animal Crossing and probably Switch Sports 2.

What do you think?

3D Mario for sure to align with the movie sequel.

Also 10th gen Pokemon.

Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends are cross-gen games. Considering how big Pokémon is, I doubt that Nintendo announces another 10m+ seller for 2025 and would rather save that for March 2026.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Also, we can look forward to Hyrule Warriors and Kirby Air Riders. The docket is pretty full for 2025.

Hyrule Warriors is designated for winter which means that it can be shifted to early 2026 or isn't planned to release in 2025 to begin with.

Maybe something like Splatoon 4 for Nov/Dec?

It seems like 3rd parties haven't had kits for long so I would expect a lot of 3rd party games to be ready for Oct/Nov/Dec 2025 as well.

It’s completely empty after that?

June 5-Mario Kart World, BotW/TotK: Switch 2 Editions
July 17-Donkey Kong Bananza
July 24-Mario Party Jamboree+TV
Aug 28-Kirby Forgotten Land+Star Crossed World
2025-Kirby Air Riders (early Oct?)
2025-Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (late Oct?)
Late 2025-Pokemon Legends: Z-A (mid-Nov?)
Winter-Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (early Dec?)

That’s a pretty fucking stacked lineup for the consoles first ~6 months with a mixture of big exclusives, big cross-gen titles, mid-tier exclusives, updated ports and updated ports with extra content.

There might be a surprise or two at the next Direct but acting like they have nothing notable after MK/DK is just ignorant.

No way.

It’s been heavily rumored for a few years that the 3D Mario team was working on a new DK and after seeing Bananza, it’s pretty clear those rumors were true.

Pokemon Legends is releasing late 2025, there is no way a new Pokemon gen is coming this year to cannibalize each other.

So, you're thinking the Switch release of Pokemon played via compatibility will be the big holiday title for Switch 2 launch year? Or a 3rd party game in Hyrule Warriors? This is the launch year. I am sure Nintendo has more lined up and waits until the system is in the hand of consumers to reveal more.

They didn't even put much importance on Pokemon in the Direct, the two most featured titles were Mario Kart and Donkey Kong at begin and end, and to a somewhat lesser degree Hyrule Warriors and Duskbloods. Pokemon got thrown in with a bunch of Switch games getting upgrade packs. This isn't their big holiday thing.

Mario Kart, DK, Air Ride, Hyrule Warriors, Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends...

No I don't really expect any big holiday game to be announced.
