Still trying to get confirmation on price of USA physical games. Insider Gaming is reporting that physical games could be up to $90.

The USA Nintendo Store only lists $79.99 for Mario Kart with no indication if that is the physical or digital price. So right now I don't know if it's $80 for physical, $70 for digital. Or $80 for both. Or $90 for physical and $80 for digital.

GTA6 will cost a $100 and Rockstar will blame Nintendo T_T

I will stick to physical on Switch 2. Nintendo games hold their value very well and the storage space on Switch 2 is still not great. If you have to install the game cards on Switch 2 my mindset might change.

One question is if third party publishers will follow Nintendo's lead. $80 Titles? $10 extra for physical? etc. And will this result in them being both $80 on PS5 and Switch 2, or will Switch 2 physical games cost more than their physical PS5 versions?

New AAA games from third parties, sure. If Nintendo does it, why not them? This pricing strategy is just there to force physical buyers into going digital faster, and even then the prices are higher.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I doubt I'll be getting a Switch 2 anytime soon, maybe in a year or two after launch if the price drops. Same with any games that launch. I have no problem waiting for their prices to drop before getting them, and if the prices don't drop then it just means I'll be getting fewer games for the system overall.

No websites you can buy games from have any price listings as far as I can see. Just typical "coming soon" banners. I'm guessing we probably won't know for sure until pre-orders go live.

What of Nintendo's products, hardware or software, has had any permanent price reductions in the last 8 years though? lol hopefully a decent holiday sale happens at some point in the reasonable future.

Nintendo is charging an extra $10 for physical to compel its players to move to digital. They would make more profits from a $70 digital game than a $80 physical. Chris Dring just revealed that in Europe the average Switch full game has a physical rate of about 80%, which is bad for Nintendo.

Major 3rd parties don't need to do that as the vast majority of their sales are digital anyways. But who knows, they might still end up copying Nintendo to accelerate transition to digital.

Only information when it comes to US pricing of MK World is the asterisks saying "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. Actual price may vary."

Can GameStop feel like they can charge $90 or $100 or something????
