- Resolution is a dynamic 1080p when docked, dynamic 720p in portable mode
- Textures, shadows, draw distance, geometry, and character models are all improved over Wii U
- Performance is roughly on par with Wii U with a most steady 30fps

That comparison shot with Halo Infinite tells you everything you need to know about the power of good level design and artistry trumping the given power capabilities of a newer console or objectively "better graphics".
Also the glow up from the WiiU feels so big in some sequences like the panning circling shot of NLA or some distance shots of the wilds which just make everything pops up so much more.
What a visual cheat they managed back then.

Yeah it's quite revealing; Xbox Series X is something like x30 more powerful than the Switch, really goes to show that's it less about how much power you have and more about how you use it:
Strange that they decided to compare it to Halo Infinite.
How is it compared to the original? Just up res'd?

They seemed to just think it was a good example of showing the right way to handle distant detail in an open world vs the wrong way.
And no, the actual assets have been upgraded too, with better textures, shadows, draw distance, and character models compared to Wii U.

Oh I see.
Thats good to hear there's a lot of work put into this remaster.
Here's hoping Switch 2 will bring in performance boosts.
Edit: I'm glad the character models were changed because I hated how the characters looked like on the WiiU version.

I wonder if they'll do another re-release of the Xenoblade titles for the Switch 2. I don't want Nintendo to just re-release the same years for every console, now that they are BC. Maybe a performance patch for the Switch version?

Hopefully performance patch, wouldnt make sense to re-release the same game on a system that has b/c for those same games.
Edit: Unless it was a remake and not a remaster.
The character model update seems like a pretty big deal. Not enough to get me to go back and play through the game again, but my two big graphical complaints from my first playthrough were the character models and the city. Seems the city is still generally pretty ugly (but a bit better) but the characters look legitimately great. All the characters still look like themselves but it works so much better now.
