Simply more competition from other Mario platformers. I believe the DS had 2, the Switch has 4 (5 if Mario Maker2 is included). |
8 actually.
3D All Stars with 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1.
Even if the release was limited, it still counts.

People there are MASSIVE NEWS you won't believe!! There will no(t) (only) be cross gen titles, there even will be SWITCH 1 EXCLUSIVES ONCE SWITCH 2 WILL BE OUT!! That shakes things up coompletley! This is from Furukawa himself! Just read:
https://icon-era.com/threads/launching-exclusive-games-for-nintendo-switch-2-is-essential-for-its-success-according-to-the-president-of-nintendo-shuntaro-furukawa.15763/
As you can read he directly pointed out PokémonZA and METROID PRIME 4: BEYOND!!
I said it before and i was right again!! Metroid 4: Beyond will be not only on Switch 1 but Switch 1 EXCLUSIVE!! So NO CROSS GEN!!
A10 - Furukawa:
We have already announced Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond for Nintendo Switch in 2025.
We will continue developing Nintendo Switch titles, but launching exclusive games for Nintendo Switch 2 is essential for its success.
However, we aim to ensure a smooth transition between the two platforms.
Mario Wonder sales are really good, it just hasn't had as much time in the spotlight compared to other entries.
15.5 million in just over a year is something most games can only dream of, it only seems less massive because the competition on Switch is so strong.
It's going to continue to sell for years and years to come, especially with Switch 2 being backwards compatible.
Mario Wonder still sold well, even if it feels like it's slowing down and won't catch NSMB & NSMB Wii. To be fair, even Odyssey hasn't surpassed those two yet (although Odyssey is a 3D Mario game).

I blame Zelda ToTK's massive front-loaded debut for setting some of our expectations too high for how fast Wonder would hit 20m, which it will absolutely do, but I doubt that it will beat Odyssey in the end. Now the race is on to see which title becomes the Switch's 10th game to pass 20m between Wonder, NSMBU and Switch Sports.
In any case, it's just champagne problems for Nintendo.
Do we have an updated list for million sellers?

Sorry, but I don't these statements as an evidence of Legends ZA and MP Beyond being Switch 1 exclusives or that there will be more Switch 1 exclusive games. What I understood from that is that Legends Z and MP Beyond will be lauched on the Switch 1 (which is something that we already knew) and that there will still be games being launched on the Switch 1, with no info if these games are going to be exclusive or cross-gen. The only information about exclusive games is directed to the Switch 2.
Personally, I think Legends ZA is a Switch 1 exclusive game and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond a cross-gen game
