Forums - Sony - Would you have tried out the canceled God Of War Live service game? (Poll)

I would have given the Gaas God Of War game...

A fair chance 1 10.00%

A day one purchase, no questions 0 0%

No heed at all, get it away from me 9 90.00%

No opinion one way or the other 0 0%

Total:10

At this point I dunno if the success of Helldivers 2 is enough to make up for all these other flops/cancellations. So much wasted resources and it would've been a complete waste if not for that one game. Maybe Fairgame$ will be a surprise hit but considering the reception to the reveal of that another Concord feels way likelier than even a decent hit assuming it doesn't get cancelled as well.

The live service obsession within Playstation this generation is so mind numbingly stupid. I hope we get a reveal one day who's golden idea this whole mess came from.

I'm glad these waste of talent marvel rivals money bag chasing schemes are slowly getting cut and hopefully these studios can now get back to what they do best.

Wasnt it the idea pushed by the last President of SIE?

Edit: Jim Ryan, had to google lol

Ryan and I have a really strong feeling this Herman Hulst guy is also advocating for this atrocious direction too.

In the long term yeah. In the short term there’s going to be very few games overall. This isn’t something that can just be changed overnight. This is years of work down the drain and will take years to reverse.

^ A whole generation of games lost. 9th gen is gonna be sparse, right up until it's time for ps6... but at least they can push Xbox games out.

I'm wondering the same about Fairgames too. Perhaps they see something in it that the Bend game lacked but I know the reason Spiderman and God Of War got pulled (cause I can't think of Blupoint making dog shit) because they don't want to take the risk of hurting those IPs in a Fallout 76 style situation. I reckon those games, or some of them could have been good, they didn't judge the success of Helldivers so I know they can't judge the success of these.

It's been close to two years so I suppose it's likely they've made major changes in response to the negative reception. I wonder what'll happen with the Horizon one since with the TLOU, Spider-Man, and God of War ones all cancelled it's now just that in terms of live service spin-offs of the big franchises. Maybe that'll do well and help make up for the rest of it somewhat.

Why cancel projects late into development? Sony's new management has to be of completely different mindset and opinions. If Helldivers 2's release target was a year after Concord, you bet your ass the new management would have cancelled it.

And please get Bluepoint back to remakes/remasters. I don't want to see them getting shut down after a single AAA failure. Just keep them doing what they're good at without unnecessary risks.

What a disaster for Sony. This is by far their worst set of decisions this generation

Huge money waste and subutilization of their great studios to produce... nothing in a generation where they could solidify their first party games lineup for good

Sony got luck Microsoft and Xbox are such pushover and Switch 2 is only getting released this year
