The Joycons look very premium. I wasn't expecting Switch 2 as the name.
I'm excited for Mario Kart. DK seems to have his Movie look.

Yeah I can see games like Civilization 7, if it gets a Switch 2 port, being a LOT easier to play on the Switch 2 with "mouse" support lol
You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind
The graphics looks mediocre
But if they allow 24 players online , I will take it

The leap to Wii U/Switch levels I think in Nintendo's mind is good enough for a lot of their games, I don't think they have a big desire to double/triple their budgets past that. Nate has said things like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (PS5 only thus far), MGS Delta, and MS Flight Simulator 2024 are coming so things like that will push the chipset I'm sure. Nintendo can keep their games roughly in the same ballpark they are now but just take them up to 4K DLSS/60 and do things like add more characters in a racing game like Mario Kart, that all checks out. Something like the next Zelda I think they will spend big bucks on though. |
Again I don't think its about doubling budgets but more technical application which I think different teams will apply at their own pace, besides even on Switch Nintendo first party titles have show a willingness to go a fair bit above the level of detail we've seen in MK8 (MK9 btw I think is likely cross gen with Switch 1). We shouldn't jump to any conclusions based off this little snippet. Nintendo's shown a commitment to graphical and visual splender throughout the Switch's generation, that will be absolutely be true for Switch 2 which main selling point is its graphical leap as far as we're aware.
The tiny stages of Mario Jamboree allow for PS4 level assets and lighting.
DF done a breakdown of this and said its using techniques that are actually shocking to find on Switch level hardware.
(Pikmin 4 is a "bullshot" by the way, the resolution and aliasing are not that high on Switch lmao) But that just shows Nintendo does in fact care. There will be a natural roof for where their artsyles and budget constraints will take them but that MK8 level visuals are not it.

Yes or probably more ideally they are pushing tabletop mode moreso this time around.
A bit off topic, but how do the leaked specs / presumed performance compare to this?
Those are the minimum specs for Rebirth on PC.
I think Switch 2 is said to have 12 GB of RAM, but I'm not sure how the CPU and GPU compare to the ones listed above.
Definitely not getting Rebirth for Switch 2, as this is a game I want to look and run as good as possible, but it'd be nice for Switch-only owners to be able to play it.
Kamiya is irate that leakers basically leaked everything, lol:

Mouse Mode would be game changing for many PC-centric games. I tried Civilization and City Skylines on PS4 and I didn't like the controls

Developers could also just learn how to programme and implement user friendly gyro aiming, but let me not get into that
