Damn, I' having trouble beating races on the normal adventure mode. I have to wonder what rubber banding is goin going on here.

Mario Kart has a more magical feeling playing but Crash I have more fun playing. Also, only one? I must’ve fever dreamed Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing then lol

Never heard of them. Strange. I'd read about 3 magazines a week during that period too if not more and I never once was informed of them. 

They were early to mid 2000s releases. I played them on Xbox but they were also on PS2 and I think GameCube.

Of course they weren’t as good as the original.

It depends, as a series I prefer Mario Kart. But Crash Team Racing has a very fun adventure mode for 1 player.

The triple drift in CTR is just too satisfying, MK8 is the game I want to play more of when I'm not playing probably cause CTR can be so frustrating but when I'm actually playing CTR it's just more fun, far deeper mechanivally and more of a game with the hub world and these challenges although some are conplete BS like the crystal challenge.

I can't explain what it is exactly, MK8 is a party game, for sure it's better with other people, but CTR is a better single player experience, plus it has trophies and it looks like quite a cool list, challenging but not impossible. Might pursue the Platinum if I can get good enough and figure out all the blue flame drifting stuff. Mechanically is just so much more filled out. I don't know if it's rubber banding or not but it does not matter cause it works, you're never really far ahead of the crowd, you're just leading by milliseconds and that adds an intense feel to the races that MK lacks cause it's too easy, yes this can be extremly frustrating especially with the RNG that you can go from first to last just because you're in the lead and you loose on the last turn or whatever but it just makes for a better more interesting game along with the drift boosts. One example, it's possible to knock the TNT create off of your head by jumping enough, it's deep details like these that make the game. 

I think people in the poll haven't delved into the nuances of CTR and the mechanics of it, I don't think I even knew about half of this stuff as a kid or if some of it is new to the remake. Just a very cool way to add complexity to this genre without over doing in, kind of like how bloodborne uses mechanics to push you into aggression and becomes a better game than Dark Souls for that reason.

You put it in less words than myself and said way more, staying on point in a single sentence. Exactly. The Adeventure mode is just more fun. Add in the deeper mechanics and it gets hard to choose MK. 

I'm sure they just slipped away from my memory fause I never played them. I only vaguely remember a PS2 crash game that sucked balls and perhaps a Mario Party like game at some point, I think. 

I voted for Crash Team Racing, although Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an objectivly better game

CTR is a MUCH better game than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe imo.

MK8D is supposed to be the best Mario Kart and sold crazy numbers. And yet a lot of people on multiple popular forums prefer the ancient CTR to it and by extension any kart racer. CTR is simply perfection. Naughty Dog's best game.

Two other seemingly great kart racers that are often brought up in forums are Diddy Kong and Sonic Racing Transformed.

Edit: Mario Kart is the better series and it's not even close. But the original CTR (and maybe Nitro Fueled which I've never played) is easily the best kart racer I ever played. Nitro Kart was crap, couldn't play it for more than a couple of hours. I skipped Crash Tag Team Racing and Nitro Fueled.
