No, it's not. Also yes it's a gimmick. Consoles by their very nature are gimmicks. People use that word without knowing what it means. Gimmick literally means a trick or device as as means of attracting attention. Graphics are a gimmick. Playing movies is a gimmick. Stop thinking of some invented negative definition. Look at a dictionary. I don't even use the haptics as they destroy the controller. Triggers have been known to break on DS. Haptic drains batteries too fast. Dual sense has never had any impact on if I get a game for PS5 or not. TBH I prefer the Xbox Series X controller as I like the shape and feel better plus that Dpad is amazing. A good dpad to me is worth far more than some sticky triggers and rumble. Touchpad on PS5 has the same issue PS4 did. It's just the selectangle for most games. Practically never need it for touch controls.

How do you feel when you turn it off in a game that's making good use of it? Does the game feel less... impactful and weighty?

I don't think I ever turned it off. I felt at some points it worked well and other points it was kind of annoying. But never annoying enough that I felt the need to turn it off.

Well to save battery if you're running low.

Its good. Need to get used to the triggers more though. They feel broken some times to me before I remember thats what they are supposed to do.lol Just a bit weird, but also cool.

Just bring back analog face buttons and we're golden.

You mean touch sensitive face buttons?

... ooooh, they could add haptics to the face buttons and D pad for the ps6, that's be cool aswell has haptics in a headset form, oh man. They could go wild with this.

As long as devs actually use it this time.

PS2 and PS3 had infrequent use of the pressure-sensitive buttons so many don't care that they're gone.

I wouldn't call DualSense a game-changer yet. Astro's Playroom and Astro Bot are the only games that I feel would lose some of their luster without the features of  DualSense.

I prefer DualSense over JoyCons because I barely use HD Rumble and the JoyCons are so poorly made. Not to mention Nintendo doesn't have analog triggers, while Sony has adaptive triggers which means they're multiple generations ahead in that regard. Digital triggers is pretty much all the way back in the fifth generation when the OG PlayStation controller had digital L2 R2 buttons which were even worse in that they were pretty much extra bumpers instead of even digital triggers.

My perfect PlayStation controller would probably bring back the pressure sensitive buttons (but like I said, have them used more) and bring back the shape of DualShock 4. DS4 in my opinion has the best shape of any PS controller.

And on a non-PS topic, Xbox 360 has the best shape of Xbox controllers and GameCube has the best shape of Nintendo controllers.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

Agreed with everything you said apart from the shape of the PS4, it feels very awkward now and has so many edges hitting around your hand that wasn't noticeable before I changed to Dual sense. The thing that would make the DS5 better is more bulbous and rounded arms like on the DS4 but everything else is perfect.

No thanks. Instead they should make hall effect sticks the standard.

What's that?

Its okay.

I think I lowered my setting for it.

I muted the built in mic and lowered the light if I remember right to reduce battery usage.

Hall effect sticks would be a great gamechanger.
