No, it's not. Also yes it's a gimmick. Consoles by their very nature are gimmicks. People use that word without knowing what it means. Gimmick literally means a trick or device as as means of attracting attention. Graphics are a gimmick. Playing movies is a gimmick. Stop thinking of some invented negative definition. Look at a dictionary. I don't even use the haptics as they destroy the controller. Triggers have been known to break on DS. Haptic drains batteries too fast. Dual sense has never had any impact on if I get a game for PS5 or not. TBH I prefer the Xbox Series X controller as I like the shape and feel better plus that Dpad is amazing. A good dpad to me is worth far more than some sticky triggers and rumble. Touchpad on PS5 has the same issue PS4 did. It's just the selectangle for most games. Practically never need it for touch controls.
