I have similar thoughts. First of all I doubt this is coming to Switch alone as the Switch is almost done, maybe once Switch 2 is out it'll be released on both systems so it is available to everyone on NSO.

But I'm wondering whether this will be an actual game you buy, or just a 'feature' of NSO expansion pack to get more people buying that and act as a universal community hub game for NSO users (which I think would be really cool and would signal that Nintendo is taking their online setup more seriously next gen).

Yeah it does seem weird to release a long term game right as Switch is winding down. I'm leaning towards this being a trial run for something they're going to do on the successor.

I think you could be right in terms of it being an NSO hub; game-ifying their online service itself would be a very Nintendo move.

Works for WoW and Minecraft. Keep the spec requirement so low that the game can run on a calculator so that hardware isn't a barrier to entry.

Once again, Nintendo's ahead of everyone's expectations by doing an out of left field MMO experience that's based on social interactions to complete.

Since this seem to be integral to the NSO app(the expansion one at least). I feel like this is like mentioned a possible early venture to couple social features in their games with the NSO in an encompassing hub, or really it's just a new game as described.

Can't wait to see what it is about on Wednesday evening though
