@killer7 @Otter @Sephiran @Torpoleon if y'all ever wanna add pfp, here's how to do it: Scroll your mouse to your icon in the top right corner of the screen. There should be a "Settings" option. From there, you should find a green box with three horizontal lines in the top right (directly above (and to the right of) the label "Website Preferences"). Click on that box, and five or so options will appear. Press "Avatar Settings". Add whatever photo you want from there. :)
Not saying i have any prejudice against users w/out pfp...but y'all look suspicious, and are far less easy-to-remember than those who do have a pfp. Only posting b/c I know for nearly my first year on this site, I was w/out a pfp b/c I couldn't figure out how to add one.

Thanx for the advice. I am using my smartphone.

I'm just lazy :')

My expectation, at this point, is a reveal between now and the holidays, and then a full presentation to follow soon into the new year. How they did the Switch was great, so why change that?

Will Switch 2 announced this year affect holiday sales? Probably not, anyone buying a Switch 2 for the holidays likely just wants a gift to give their kids and doesn’t care too much about whether it’s an old model or a new one, just as long as it’s an easy place to get future birthday and Christmas gifts for the next 2-3 years. Parents mostly just want to get gifts for their kids without having to think about it too much. Late adopters of hardware are OK buying software for years after a console is available. Games like MK8DX, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and so on, will be available for another 4-5 years at retail locations - and that’s what parents want. The big Wii games (Mario Kart, Just Dance, the Lego stuff, etc) were still available through the Wii U and into the Switch’s lifecycle.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If they're announcing next year they must surely know that already, I don't understand why they don't just say so. They seem to want the possibility of a Switch 2 reveal to hang over Nov/December for no reason, unless they are planning some thing like a reveal at the TGAs or something.

They could easily just say:

"As an update to our statement in May regarding the Switch successor, will share more details in the new year keeping with our previous time line. This fall we will focus on the existing Switch platform. Now please enjoy this Zelda: EoW or Mario Party or Mario & Luigi trailer launching this holiday season" etc. etc.

ain’t no way this system gets reveal before 2025. Nintendo would not want to jeopardize their most profitable time of year. (Remember: Nintendo is a company. They need to maximize profits as best they can.)

So why don't they just say so?

They said for the June Direct they wouldn't show the Switch 2 there specifically during the announcement, they could easily have updated people on this during any one of their holiday promotional announcements. If you have made the decision to focus on Switch 1 solely this holiday, fine, but why not just say so and what's the point of keeping the whole charade going.

"We'll be sharing more details on the Switch successor after the holiday season but before the end of the fiscal year as previously stated, please enjoy our fall Switch 1 holiday lineup". There. Easy. Simple.

Instead of saying that Furukawa seems intent to keep saying "well a Switch successor announcement this year wouldn't have much impact on Switch sales".

Maybe mass or test production of Switch 2 is set to begin or already has begun and they are afraid a leak will happen and want to keep the possibility of an announcement open for this year.

In this case didn't like being right but still got Xenoblade X so not all is lost.

Surprise is a powerful marketing tool. By not explicitly dismissing the possibility a 2024 reveal, ppl will continue endlessly speculating on something that obviously won’t happen. Nintendo is infamous for saying something that completely contradicts what they aftly end up doing for this exact reason: “Ridley’s too big for Smash!” (first character revealed for SSBU (They did what they once claimed impossible!)), “2D Zelda cannot coexist with 3D Zelda” (EoW releases one year later (I thought 2D Zelda could not coexist??)), etc.

They've already specified they will announce it before the end of March 2025, so we already know roughly when the date could be, it can't be that big of a surprise. It just seems stupid if you want to focus on Switch 1 this holiday ... then like, why needlessly keep this dumb charade going on. This holiday is for the Switch 1, just say so and get it over with.

My feeling is they are worried there could be a supply side leak which may force them to reveal earlier than expected and are not clarifying a time period for that reason.

If tomorrow some random dude working at a factory leaked the Switch 2 from an assembly line, well then Nintendo may feel they have to retake control of the narrative and give an official announcement.
