There was another thread on here that asked would I upgrade to Switch 2 and it got me wondering what it would take for Nintendo (I'm the casual who gifted a Switch and bought one cheap) to upgrade to a new Nintendo system. My three terms are.

1. Home console only. Digital only edition. SSD. 1440p goal. 60fps performance modes, nothing dips below 1080p. DLSS. Graphics modes at 4k.

2. New Nintendo IP. I'd like to see first party RPG's, delve into something cinematic (or two...three), a racing game that isn't a kart racer. Among a few others that don't use existing IP. An evolution if you will. "Mature" exclusive like the wii had. A return of the cool little titles that did the whole light gun thing on the wii.

3. Joy cons stay in a modular controller but they need work, more grip, more weight, added haptics if wishing a bit to much. No drift!

Bonus: A VR attachment with VR Nintendo first party and follow in the routes of Astro bot rescue mission. Evolve on that basis.

Bonus 2: Actual digital discounts on first party games every now and again, I get it. You wanna seem premium but give your audience some benefits for being in the ecosystem. Also, A fire Emblem game at launch, 90+ OC.

Bonus 3: An achievement/trophy like system following more in the vien of Playstation but with the platinum equivalent meaning something. Perhaps an unlock in a new social hub like wii verse like cosmetics that only unlock for players who "platinumed" a game. Also, A social life sim space.

While Handheld is cool and all, I don't need it. I'm sick of the battery which degrades faster than any I've seen in a tech device and revlocking it doesn't work. It's too big for a handheld even in the LITE form. Make a handheld that's a handheld and a console that's a console.

***MY OPINION AND PERSONAL PREFERENCE***

So would you ho back to Home console Nintendo?

I personally would, as I consider Nintendo to be the best developer in the industry and I want to play their games, but from Nintendo's point of view it wouldn't make sense to go back to a dedicated home console when the handheld audience makes up a huge portion of their player base.

"Nothing below 1080p" isn't happening either; there are sub-1080p games even on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and there will be even on PS5 Pro too. Sacrificing pixel count for better shaders or effects is up to the developer, and some will always choose this route.

No. Considering most of my time on switch is outside home.

Would you go full handheld then and not be bothered if they separated home console and handheld?

Yeah, I don't care for portable aspect of Switch at all, and after Switch Lite, I was really hoping they would release Switch TV (or something) as well...with better cooling and higher clocks.

Same. Perhaps this is what'll be done for Switch 2. From Google though...

"Interestingly enough, about 30 percent of users play the Switch in handheld mode a majority of the time. In contrast, just under 20 percent of players keep the Switch docked most of the time"

If it was close in power to PS5 sure!

If it was just a Switch without portability I wouldn't see the point and keep buying the portable/hybrid version

Considering mine sits in the dock all the time and I use a regular controller, Yes. It's just an awkward console now.

Sure, I've owned every Nintendo console that released after I was born. In-fact if they did a cheaper "Switch Home" model last-gen I would have probably bought that.

If the next Nintendo Console was just a $299 home console like the Series S with those specs that would be amazing for me. But a lot of people want portable, which means less power more money and business wise Nintendo would be silly to do a home only console even if I personally would like it.

I use my Switch as a home console, so yes.
